Alrighty. It's lowered. Here's the pics. Unfortunately, the weather has been pure crap lately so the mini has been nestled in the garage all cozy until we get a decent stint of weather that I can take some pictures of the car out and about.

But for now... here you go. It's SOO much lower, and way stiffer. The new springs have a really good progressive rate that make it smooth around town (smoother than stock actually) and AMAZINGLY stiff in the corners. I actually got it on 2 wheels the other day just pulling into the CVS parking lot. haha. Kinda scared me at first.

Adjustable Hi-Lo's with SRacer Red springs. Nice and stiff. I've got KYB dampers all around right now, but I'll be going with GAZ short adjustable's later on when I add my sway bars as well.

Nice to hear you like the feel of the red springs, I've thought about trying them but others have said it may be a bit extreme.

NOOO way. The red is actually smoother during normal driving than the old rubbers I had on the car. You only get into the high spring rate on the Reds once you start driving aggressively. That and if you get on some really crappy road or bumpy patches... then you'll notice it. But it's not punishing at all.

Good endorsement - thanks for the update. I really want Hi-Los and springs on Fiona - I'm just on the fence between red or blue springs. Unfortunately, since I'm only running the stock 45HP-or-so engine, I don't do much "aggressive" driving (not in THAT car anyway - heh).

Imago... if you're on the fence, I'd say go Red. My girlfriend rides in the car with me a lot, and if he's comfortable.. well... maybe I should have gone Green. haha. She likes the ride of the Red springs and lowered suspension better than the high and squishy original suspension. I'd say that is in itself a good reason to go with Red. Unless you never plan to play with the car. If anything, I'd say that it gives me an edge if I ever need to maneuver aggressively.

Wish you lived around here so that I could just take you for a spin in the car. You'd decide right then and there. haha

i currently have hi los and rubber springs on my mini but i'm debating on just going to coilovers instead.

Well Coilovers would absolutely dominate my setup. haha. If I had the money to do the conversion, that would be my definite choice. But for me on my College student budget... the red coils and hi-lo's are awesome.

well that's the problem.....getting the dosh to pay for them or get a bunch of other stuff for the mini.

well. That all depends on what you want. If you think the added benefits of coilovers are what you will NEED for racing, then shell out the green. If you don't NEED that... get the reds or greens. They are awesome. I could track the car if I had some decent shortened dampers. Oh.. and since I'm so low, I'll also need to cut and roll my fenders some more now. haha.

But if I was in your shoes.. I'd say go hi-lo's with red (or green if you're serious about your corners) and spend the excess money and time elsewhere. That's what I did. I paid about $400 for Hi'lo's, front rebounds and bump stops from SRacer, Rear bumpstops from SRacer, and the red spring kit all around. All the excess goes to my 1360 build.

that is the thing i could get a full set of spax coilovers for $700. motor is done unless i pull it and go 16v....:eek2:

yeah. The coilovers themselves. I assume you'll do your own work. You are definitely more than capable. I say do work then. haha. Just document it thoroughly so that I have a step by step when I do mine later. lol

How did you get Hi-Lo's and springs for just 400?? I've looked and it's been more in the 1000 range. :cry:
