Given the shape of the windows, b-pillar, and trunk area...another Mini?

Pflashinaz Jun 11, 2009 03:38 PM

Yes, it's another Mini... but just not any Mini. More specific.

MINIxB Jun 11, 2009 03:40 PM

A smaller Mini?

Pflashinaz Jun 11, 2009 03:41 PM

Your getting closer.

MINIxB Jun 11, 2009 03:49 PM

A shorty Mini with a chopped top??

Pflashinaz Jun 11, 2009 04:03 PM

Not shorter as in length, but chopped top is in the area.

Gee, let me guess ... a 1967 Mini sprint? Say HI to Mike for me.

Whoa those things are weird! I just looked them up on google. I'd never even heard of them.

Minimad Jun 11, 2009 05:11 PM

Hey! What's under the Mini?

Hehe, I had one of those for my '68 Jeep CJ5 I aptly named 'Sir leaks a lot'. The problem with those is you can never tell when they _stop_ drooling oil.

That's no fair, you've been there and seen it. But it's not really a '67 as the sharp eyed Mini enthusiasts can tell by the pictures.

Actually this is one of the few composite bodied Mini Sprints in the world. And perhaps the only one with the famous Fortech Flares. The mold for this Mini was pulled from a MK3 or later shell that had been chopped and sectioned according to the original Stewart and Arden Sprints. The manufacturer did a good job on the body glassing over a steel frame which makes this body very rigid. And this can be yours....

BTW Jeff, how's the Mini running? Last two days I've put close to 200 miles on mine, ringing it out for the haul to Minnesota

I had a very weird problem last time I drove mine ... the left-front brake caliper decided to not release. I couldn't move it for an hour until the brake rotor cooled down enough to shrink. I haven't looked at it yet, but I'm thinking there's probably debris in the brake line or caliper. I'm hoping to look at it this weekend.

I did get my Corbeau seats installed ... and I got my racing harnesses in the mail this week. I'm planning on driving it down to Firebird raceway Saturday morning just to watch some friends practice for Nationals (NASA). Let me know when you get back from MN and we can chat again.

Regarding Mike's Sprint ... I think I would have bought it last year had it been for sale then. Mine's still fun though ... for me there's more fun in a project car that I get to fix and upgrade myself, even if it's more expensive in the long run.

Cheers,
Jeff

That sucks, you get one problem fixed and another shows up, it must be a Mini. This is the last full weekend that we have to race prep Ken's Mini. I don't think there's much left to do.
