Help identifying things under my hood.......ya, I'm a noob :D

Thanks guys for helping me out, you know alot more then me right now :D

So, I got under the and had some questions....first up, what is the green wire hooked up to the carb?? It is wired right into the fuse box....

Then this is some sort of grounded onto the bell of the carb

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...i/IMG_3262.jpg

Next up......what is this?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...i/IMG_3265.jpg

The black wire and white wire go up to the fuse box...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...i/IMG_3266.jpg

The purple went across hte engine bay into the front wiring harness

Next up, what is this thing.......

Previous owner has it running across the engine compartment and venting

Thats it for now :D Thanks guys!

It's a heater to pre-heat the fuel. That's probably what that white switch is for as well.

The other hose is the crank case breather. It should hook up to the carb by that coal canister somewere. I can't tell from your pic but it might be the one that has the vacuum cap on it right now.

This is a carb de-icer. SU's have a tendency to ice. This heats the intake. Can be eliminated.

Not sure on this one. Possibly a voltage stabilizer? Se if you can get some numbers off it. Where do the wire go? Colors?

I assume you mean the vent attached to the rear tappet cover? Allows pressure (blow-by) to escape from engine to atmosphere. Was originally plumbed into an EGR system of sorts fed back through the carb. Vent to atmosphere. I placed this on mine instead of a hose:

Hope that helps

If your engine is pretty worn out they may have disconnected that breather because too much crap was recirculating and suffocating the carb.

I take it, the hose was connected to that plugged nipple on the carb? Below that carb heater?

stratman977 May 28, 2009 08:11 PM

It's the nipple on the left side of the carb closest to the front. There should be 2 nipples pretty close together on that side.
