I got new speakers and now I must sell my door panels...
 

Yes sir, I have a new set of Pioneer Premier PRC Component speakers for my mini, and I have to build a new set of door panels because they won't fit in my current panels. The panels are listed on eBay (click here), and are complete custom panels with raised accents surrounding the lock tab ane window crank. They were custom built to acommodate a set of Diamond Audio S600s components and will acommodate most 6.5" component sets, but not the PRS or similar large basket type speakers. If you are interested in adding some nice speakers to your mini, please take a look. Additionally, I work for a mobile electronics retailer, so I can assist you in purchasing speakers from Alpine, Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Boston Acoustics that will fit the panels, if you so desire.

I may be interested in these... How did you run the speaker wire into the doors, if you don't mind me asking? My current speakers are in fiberglass and MDF speaker pods, mounted in the footwells. Also, do these sit ON TOP OF the stock door cards or do they attach separately? Just covering my stock door cards with an extra layer of vinyl made them heavy enough that sometimes the bottom edge of the panel pulls away (may be bent/lazy plastic clips though). Just making sure they will attach up properly.

The wires are run through a grommetted hole drilled near the access hole for the door pin switch, then the cable is "S" routed to one of the drainage slots in the bottom of the door. These panels replace the entire door card and use the plastic upholstery mounting clips to attach the new panel to the door. I'm pretty sure that your '92 and my '95 have the same doors and mounting provisions, so they should fit properly, without any need for modifications. When I built these, I used expanding foam as a base and then coated that with fiberglass covered in vinyl, to keep them nice and light. They don't pull away from the doors when shut, and the speakers are perfectly aimed for the best sound possible.

If it wasn't for the union jack, you'd have a sale. But I'm good with Audio and fiberglass, so I think I'll just make some. But on a related note.. where did you get that fabric pattern? Custom ordered? and how well does it contour to a molded box and hold with glue?

The vinyl is available through most automotive upholstery suppliers. If you can't find it local, or don't have a supplier in your area, I can provide it at a reasonable price. The carbon fiber grain looks really nice on contours.

The Union Jack is removable, it is only one of several different inserts that I have for this set of door panels. They are just press fitted and can be easily changed out by removing the window crank.

As far as how it looks on a box, well here you go, not bad huh? And as long as you use the right type of glue you're set.

Hmm... I'm interested. I was thinking of doing this, but I have so many things to come before visuals, and fixing the box in the boot that I currently have.... hmmmm.
