Looks like it belongs on the nose of a B17 Flying Fortress!! Excellent.

No, not at all what so ever. The B 17 was a US bomber and would not have any British markings, but the Lancaster was one of the British bombers and would.
Here are my final versions - I adjusted the figure's position a bit, tweaked the shadows and re-did the text to be a bit more 3-D. I'm still torn - I'll try to digitally put the graphic on a picture of the car and see if it helps me decide, but right now I'm leaning towards the RAF roundell. Of course, I change my mind every 15 minutes! Argh!
Now that you actually showed them on the roof, have you tried doing a full union jack roof with her on it? I'd be curious to see that one too.
I think it'd end up being too "busy" with the full roof. You could try a subdued / color reduced Union Jack (Union Flag - your preference) behind her but I think it'd be visually confusing.
I really like the roundel! Actually - I was considering a Union Flag on the roof like I had on my '71...but the more I think about the RAF Roundel the cooler I think that would be. Hmm. Going to have to convince the fiance on that one.

The RAF did fly some B17's. They ordered 20 of the early versions,B-17C?, but after losing eight, the RAF and the USAAF deemed that version not quite ready for battle and the RAF sent the rest to Coastal Command.
Sorry, I'm a nerd.
I spent 23 years in the AF and you know more of the history than I do !!
Not sure if the USAAF reference is correct though... I believe it was called the US Army Air Corps prior to 1947. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Here's some more history for you...the first P51 Mustangs were flown by the RAF and the first recorded kill by a P51 was in a Royal Canadian AF squadron Mustang, flown by an American pilot. Ironic, huh?

Guess the contract for the RAF to purchase the P51s came with some trainers as well.
Yep... more ironic that anything Alanis Morissette ever came up with !

The P-51 was even originally commisioned by the Brits who snuck over to the U.S. before we were in the war to get the thing made. They started off with the Allison engine but didn't truly become badass until they got the Rolls Royce Merlin engine in 'em.
I guess we owe the Brits a little credit for helping make the most beautiful and (for it's time) best performing plane to fly the unfriendly skies.
Actually, my real reason is I get kinda hot and bothered looking at Fiona on that UJ on top of the other Fiona....
I'm afraid that if I walked up to that at a meet I would start breathing heavy and my tongue would hang out and I'd drool on your car... and that would NOT be cool...
(and God forbid if it goes so far that I start doing the friendly-dog-on-your-leg thing to the car...)
Went to a local sign shop that some of the other MINI folks have had good luck with (Sign-A-Rama in Gahanna in case anyone wants to know - ask for Aaron, he's a great guy) to get a sample of the full-size art, and while I was there I got some miniature verisons (6") to tide me over. I still couldn't decide which I like better, so I put one on each side.
