New horn in the Wee Beastie

I was fed up with the wussy horn that is standard in a classic Mini, so I installed this one. I picked it up for $35 on sale. It took some tetrising to get it to fit in the space, and the stock horn only has 1 wire going to it, so I had to make a wire for the negative side. It's nice and loud now.

Any chance you could post some shots of your install?

That's a great upgrade for a LBC. Any small car for that matter. My Miata has twin air horns.

Yeah, I surely see a air horn upgrade in my future. I use to drive a full size lifted Bronco. Too many drivers in this area just pull out in front of you just knowing you'll stop. If they'll pull out in front of something big, I'm sure I'll have the same problem while driving the Mini, only worse.:impatient At least with the air horn I'll be able to scare the mess out of them while they are being a smart butt by pulling out in front of me.

I love waking up those driving cell phone talkers that enjoy trying to take over my lane while they think they are still in theirs. A nice loud wake up to reality never hurts. Although I'm sure the person on the other end of the cell phone gets the wake up also.

I'll try to get some pics this weekend, maybe post on Monday.
I wanted to avoid the air horns with a separate compressor, since I'm not 100% confident on the electrics on the classic. So I was specifically looking for something that claimed to be a straight replacement for a factory horn. Didn't know until the install that the factory horn only has the 1 wire.

Imago, that one might actually be easier to mount than the one I used, since the compressor would probably fit behind the grill, and the horns could be moved to a wheel well liner area.

To mount this one, I had to reverse the bracket and have it in a particular alignment to make it fit.

I was thinking that you could just replace the OEM horn with the compressor... It might be fused differently, but a DC device is a DC device...

I have similar. The brand on the horns is FIAMM (IT) Watch which compressor comes with the set. Some are larger/better than others.
Comes with relay & wiring diagram. Air horns draw little power for short periods.

Mine came with one, reservoir and all, but I have yet to put it back in. I love my silly one. With a fiberglass front and having it mounted where I do it's plenty loud enough.

Kurt, I mentioned putting a train horn on the roof to my wife but she vetoed it strongly.
Shorn, not only does it JUST fit, there is only 1 alignment of it that gets it in. 10% spin in either direction and it doesn't fit.

I spent my time after work last night removing external parts from the Wee Beastie. As soon as I'm done (probably over the weekend), it goes to the body guy for cancer surgery, then the paint guy to become ORANGE! I don't mean orange, I mean ORANGE!!!
