I'm still a maybe. I did this drive last fall with a few NW IN MINIs and it was a lot of fun!

PJ, I'm having MOT withdrawal.
Hey Junk In The Trunk!!! We SOooo relate!! That MOT was awesome! Everyone else out there...... YOU MISSED OUT!!!! Think about next year!!!!

Are there any plans to gather before hitting IN?

I read we are to bring a picnic lunch!!! Sounds fun!

The starting place is Anderson in Valpo, and you may bring a picnic lunch if you want, but it is not part of the plan. The plan for lunch is one of two, I have a res at Tabor Hill for our group for lunch or we can stop at a local place in 3 Oaks MI. It's something the group will vote on that morning.

Lunch plans. Please vote about lunch. I have made a res for our group at Tabor Hill dining room or we can stop in Three Oaks MI at one of many local joints. If you want to picnic your welcome to do that too.

Picnic idea, I could bring a meat and cheese plate, buns, chips, cookies and cooler of water and pop and we could tailgate along the way. Each of us kick in about $5 bucks, keeps it cheap and fun. There are many places to stop and picnic too. Tabor Hill also has free picnic table we could use.

A picnic at Tabor Hill?
3 Oaks?
Dining room at Tabor Hill?

Please post below what you want to do ASAP.

Anything but picnic. I will be picniced out after this weekend & the 4th. Tabor Hill is excellent and I'm sure the local joints are too.

What is the deadline for decision? Might I suggest this poll for picnic/not picnic and if verdict is not picnic pick place at start as mentioned above.

I sent an IM to each of the folks that say they are or may come on the drive and asked each of them to post here with a vote. I still have the res at TH for our group. I'll do whatever the group wants.

When are you planning to print the directions? If I'm going to cancel, I would like to do so before you waste the time/ink on a set for me.

The way I drive any picnic lunch I had in the car would look like it went through a blender. Actually, I have a pic-a-nic basket that I have yet to use after 6 years. Either way is fine with me. Will Tabor Hill allow us to cook outside?? If so I have a small gas grill and could make some brats.

Hey Cliff, "IF" we do picnic, and that looks like an idea on its way out the door, I would carry all the goods, so you could still drive nice and tight.

I think our best bet is Lunch at Tabor Hill Dining Room, anyone that wants to picnic for any reason may do so. I'm still waiting on more input from others.

Your list of MINI's on this drive grew by one from MI, thats right a MI MINI is driving to NW IN to just drive back to SW MI.

What kind of food do they serve at Tabor Hill and price range? (That might help people make up their minds.)
I am leaning towards the restaurant... only because we have to get up early to meet you all, and I think after the 4th, zinvester may be correct in his assumption.

Keep it simple.

Tabor Hill sounds good. Their menu looks delish (and perhaps a wee bit pricey, no?) idk.. idk..

OK.. so is there a place like Lake Geneva's, Popeye's? pizza or subway? Most people like that...

Then again... we could pull out a copy of: Manifold Destiny: The One! The Only! Guide to Cooking on Your Car Engine!
and see what looks good....

One challenge with this drive is food stops. There are not a lot of towns at lunch time to stop in. My best guess is "we" will be ready to eat in 3 Oaks or at Tabor Hill. Tabor Hill Lunch could be had for less then $10.00 each or up to $20.00 each.

The easy and safe bet to keep the group together is Tabor Hill, I have a large table setup there for our group.

Based on the above postings and a few IM's "we" will plan on lunch at Tabor Hill Dining room. If for whatever reason "you" do not want to eat there, they do have picnic table in the vineyard to enjoy a picnic lunch.

Is anyone planning to convoy from Museum Campus or MSI? If so, what time?

Whoo hoo!!! Glad you can make it P & B!!!
Not sure if John & Tommy are going to use their room at the Clarion.... we found a room at the Country Inn & Suites by Carlson, Kalamazoo 269-382-2303

Zinvestor ~> finally a mention of convoy! We are coming from the NW (Wauconda) and P & B from the western burbs, if John can go, we'll converge at 137 & 94 and head in and meet you and PB...... (Anyone else?)
Pick a place and time. :^)

John? U out there? U going?!!

FYI, Karen and I will not be able to get to K-zoo for Sundays events.

We will still be there with bells on Sat for the drive.

Maybe we could meet everyone at the Hinsdale Oasis? (We usually head that'a way too, and P&B are use to it.... besides there is a pit stop and caffeine!!! >>Starbucks!<<) Or is that way out of your way, zinvestor? John, you make up your mind yet? We're open to suggestions

clarification: "everyone" means anyone interested, or logically on their way to the orchard from Chicago/burbs that might like to convoy

How many people are going for the Saturday drive then heading back to Chicagoland? Also, we are heading down from Schaumburg. Since we don't know the area all that well (only been here since October), is there anyone meeting in this area to ride down with?

Tabor

Lori and I are suddenly up in the air for the drive!

We will have to be in the maybe column for family reasons.

If we do go, the lunch at tabor sounds great. I have heard good things about it.

We will need to LEAVE the Hinsdale Oasis at 830am Sat morning. Anyone that wants to meet there and drive down to NW IN Together is welcome.
It would be great fun. The Hinsdale Oasis is on 294 south of 88/290 exchange a few miles. I would say anyone taking 294, 88, or 53/290 might want to join us there and be ready to Roll Out at 830am.

Hate to rain on parades, but I have been avoiding 294 S & E of Cicero since May when they started another batch of construction (even Sat. a.m. can be congested). I live near 88 & 59 and take 88/290 to LSD to Blue Island to Skyway. Tolls are a little higher, but construction is WAY less.
