Chicago area pulley party-mcs

 Hello Chicago area MINI Cooper S fans! I have been conspiring with Randy Webb of Webb Motorsports to bring one of his world famous pulley parties to town. Tentatively, we have set a date of December 11-12, 2004. We need to round up at least six partiers who would like to see better top-end and a greatly lowered rpm on the torque peak. He will also offer ECU upgrades and intakes at the same time. This is a great opportunity to get REAL power gains, and hang out with Randy, who is well known to be at the forefront of MCS mods and testing.
The location will likely be in Libertyville. Pretty close to Knauz MINI, and right off I-94. Let me know(or check out the Webb Motorsport Website) if you may be interested. This is relatively begnign modification, as the Cooper Works pack puts out more power(for a LOT more money) without endangering clutch, tranny, etc.

Dec is too high of a snow risk to commit.

SixVi6 11-15-2004 11:44 PM

I actually read the thread over at Webb today about a pully party in chicago. First I have to get an MCS though.. lol. If/When I get it I'd be in for the pulley party.

Friday I got run off the road in my Camaro. Not 100% sure yet but it looks to be totaled. So I've decided to get an MCS to replace the Camaro because I've soo always wanted one. hopfully as soon as next week I'll have an MCS :)

kenchan I've seen your car before! I'm sure you'll spot me when I get get an MCS. I live in schaumburg.

RIP... my 95 Camaro.

sixvi6-sorry to hear about your Camaro. You'll like your MCS!

Definately interested in having Randy do an Alta pulley for me. Did he give pricing by chance ($400?).

For all those not as familiar, Randy is THE man to have for this. Webb provides a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty on the mod and any parts it may affect. Search the forums for more info on this.

Have to check my sched an make sure I am in town that weekend.

Come on Chicagoland MCS owners. Step up and schedule the pulley swap. You will NOT be disappointed. I have a friend with a 15% pulley, and it is the best bang for the buck you can do. And of all the several hundred (thousands even?) 15% pulley swaps done over the last several years, I have never heard of a problem. $400 gets you a solid 12 - 15 ponies. Toss in a cold air intake and an ECU upgrade and you can keep up with a JCW equipped car for about 20% of the cost.

salt solution

Hey, Kenchan!
Perhaps salt would be no factor if you could find somebody with a gas guzzler and a car trailer. I certainly know how you feel about our local salting policies. Sometimes I think there's more of a hazard from sliding on the salt than from most of our snowfalls!

kenchan 11-18-2004 09:22 AM

How many people do you have lined up so far?

RandyBMC 11-18-2004 10:11 AM

We have two confirmed, and two - NTHUSIAST and SixVi6 - on the fence. If we got commitments from you and the other two, I could definitely come. We have a shop, Perfect Power in Libertyville, and a date, December 11 and 12. That early in December shouldn't be an issue with snow yet - I used to live in Arlington Heights.

Merry Christmas!
Randy

minirips2 11-18-2004 01:52 PM

Ho Ho Ho! Pray for no snow!

kenchan 11-22-2004 09:02 AM

How many are you up to as of today?

Pulley Party Update

Just got off the phone with Randy.

The Chicagoland Pulley Party is still set for Sunday, Dec 12th, but the location has been moved.

It will no longer be at Perfect Power, but instead, will be out in DeKalb, IL. It's going to be at my family farm, just off of I-88. We have a large/modern, heated shop building that will work perfectly for Randy (even has an indoor basketball court to help pass the time). There are plenty of nice paved, country roads surrounding, so testing out the pulley's just got a lot easier.

For those looking to attend, I am sending the directions to Randy. So you can either ask him, or send me a PM and I'll email you directions and a map.

Randy is still looking at flights, so I don't have an official start/stop time yet. Will keep you all posted as things develop.

Let's try to get a few more people signed up (3 pulleys and an ECU is all he's got so far). We need to make sure it's worth his time so we can get him back for future mods. So come on guys and gals!

Do we have pricing set yet?

NTHUSIAST 12-01-2004 09:02 AM

Pricing

Pulley alone $400
UNIChip $735
Package price $1090

Alta $199-259 (without or with silicone hose)
Pilo $148
Helix/RDR $200
PROMINI $170

RandyBMC 12-01-2004 11:22 AM

Remember that the price includes install for the intake and plugs if done at the same time as the pulley. It also includes the 2 year/24,000 miles Webb Motorsports Warranty. It is also a bargain compared to your local shops (I know what they charge) and dealers.

Hope to see you there!
Randy

Is this still happening? might be intrested in making the drive down. how far from milwaukee is this?

minirips2 12-02-2004 12:51 PM

Chicago Pulley party

Randy assures me that this is a done deal. The venue has been moved to Dekalb in a large heated facility with room for all our Cooper and a basketball hoop. Check out his website at www.webbmotorsports.com. Go to the garage section, click on pulley party central. On the second page of the Chicago/Milwaukee thread is the schedule with available slots. Go for it! You WON'T be disappointed!
