any recommendations.....

thinking of getting an mini coupe..but it doesnt have the hk audio system...any recommendations for installing an amp/ speakers in the chicago area? thanks guys! dan

Do you really "need" more sound? The stock system is acceptable for most normal music as reasonable levels.

With the newer cars, either buy the Harmon Kardon system or deal with not having the best sound.

It is going to cost you quite a bit in labor to add to the factory sound system.

Bavarian Soundwerks is one of the best in the market for adding to a BMW/MINI... they don't have anything for the R5x cars yet.

You may be able to replace individual speakers with higher end replacements but also make sure you have the right OHM speakers!

You could call Car Wonders in Palatine, IL. They have done some heated seat retrofits for me in the past.

Either get the car with the basic audio system with plans to go aftermarket.

If you get a car with the HK it is much harder to go aftermarket apparently.

I have the HK in my 2012 Hardtop and very happy.

actually just found a coupe with the hk....waiting to pull the triger
