the joys of MINI #1, saying goodbye to #3

Our R53 continues to bring us miles of joy! But our R53 is not without it's troubles. For months I've been feeding coolant, some oil and just today I discovered a pool of fluid on the garage floor from a failed engine mount.

I dropped by Patrick for a new mount, bolt, thermostat and thermostat housing. It's also time for an oil change. Therefore, it's going to be a garage night for me tomorrow. I'm actually looking forward to getting my hands dirty and doing this work myself. I'm going to try and keep this old-guy running for as long as I can.

Our R57 however is moving on. As much as I love the sun, the R57 in stock form is just to soft. And I didn't see much of a reason to upgrade to the R57 JCW. I do love having the top down, but it's up a good portion of the year. Anyways, it's time to sell and make room for our new ride

It's not really YOUR car until you skin a knuckle or two on it. Enjoy the garage night, Thursday is mine, also - there's always something needing to be done in my stable. This week it's a pinion bearing in a Dana 35 axle (Jeep).

@ Ords - No R58... I'm not a fan. Lack of headroom and what's up with that glove box? Perhaps an R59... but I'll have to wait and see

@ Blackbomber - not the first time I've done work on the MINI it's just been a long time since it's been up on the blocks.

Hey Paul.. sorry to see the cabrio go. Maybe you should stay away from red MINIs?? the next one should be PW, that way you'll hold onto it longer

Hopefully we'll see you at the next drive in the PW (or you can ride with me)... it'll be like old times.
