1500ish Got a wave from a JB MC on 60 south bound near Midlothian
45 and 21 in Linclonshire a CR/W MC

1934 EB/W MCS a few hundred yards west of Bull Valley and Miller Rd

 

Yesterday on Golf around 4:45 I saw "Jacquie," a silver/white MCS. Then around 5:00 on Euclid saw a cool blacked-out MCS. Got waves from both, which makes it two for two yesterday!

 

I usually don't post my sightings, but yesterday I spotted one I didn't regularly see. Just after 4pm near Dundee & 53, spotted a blond female in a LY/W MSC with bonnet stripes.

I tried to wave as a passed her in the 2nd lane on Dundee, but with the traffic she other things to pay attention to. I went on my way not thinking to much of it. A couple of lights later, I see the LY MINI pulling up behind me. I gave her a wave, she waved back With her following we seemed to have this understanding to stay in formation. We continued together along Dundee until I had to turn off at Quinten.

It was kind of neat having two MINIs together for such a long stretch (2/3rds of my drive home ) completely unplanned.

 

I was on Lakewood at Miller Road around that time with my EB/W MCS.

 

on 88 heading west sitting in traffic before the york toll @ 2245ish a Light silver MCSc pulls up and we chat for a few while slowly moving along. Noticed she had the sportslink mounted.

 

Sorry, new to this forum ... so my question is REALLY naive.

What are all these abbreviations.

EB/W
LY/W
CR/W
etc.

Now the real questions.

A. I am trying to source an accessory. Bonnet stripes. I have seen in many photos stripes that are mainly black with a white "edging" or vice versa. But all the stripes I see at places like Moss are just white or just black with no edging color.

B. Anyone bought a Tom Tom for the MC? I am interested but where do you mount it - windscreen lacks real estate!

So, my Chili Red "S" with Black roof becomes a CR/B MCS.

As far as cooler bonnet stripes, I'm going to get some two-color stripes like you describe here:

It adds some cost, but I think it's worth it. Everyone raves about the quality of their product and their customer service.

Can't help you on the TomTom, but I've got an XM Roady sitting on the console cupholders. Not great. I'd probably try mounting the TomTom on the ceiling just aft of the map lights, that would be cool if you can make it work. I'm thinking about it for my XM.

Not sure if there's room aft of the map lights, you mean to the top right of the rear view mirror, right?

There is a thread in the NAv and Audio forum that shows quite a few tomtom and other GPS installs on all sorts of MINIs, at the very least it would be good for ideas of where to mount and might be able to get some experiances of functionality.


Do you have a photo of your MINI so we know what to look for? Coming out to the meet on Sunday?

Today I saw an EB/W MCS in Geneva. I don't think he saw me so no wave.

When seeing a MINI that is same as yours, its like looking in the mirror.

4:30pm - MCC CR/B - Broad St in Lake Geneva. Was walking along the when you passed.

 

I wouldn't contribute to this but ... 9:55pm this evening, on I-90 West and Arlington Heights Road. No idea what colour, anything except plates ... started with APEX ... it all happened so fast. I was doing 80 and noticed "a car" in the fast lane approaching at high speed ... after it passed with that throaty growl I realized, B_UGGA! it's a MINI!, correction it WAS a MINI. What have you got under that bonnet? "He" wasn't playing one up since I was in my other car

• MCS - IB/W @ Geneva St/Broad St
• MC - CR/W on Wrigley Dr
• a red MG on Center St & Main St -
• a brown/B MC on Hwy 50 & Wells St.- Thnx for the wave wish I had my camera for that one
• MC - PW/B by Pick-n-Save @ Geneva Sq

-- plus... several runs on Snake Rd and one cruise on LSD around the Lake so far

 

In 3 hours of driving I saw no other MINIs!!!

Then a BRG in Downers Grove on Ogden (34) around 17:50

and a dozen more in Naperville between 6 and 7 I think I even crossed paths with a CR/W MC several times.

 

8/12- spotted shukes24 going north on Roselle Rd by Higgins around Noon. i think you spotted me too... was in my black LegacyWgn.

 

Saw a AB/B and a IB/W (UJ top) coming from the mini/macro event up in crystal lake. Have pics and will post in my gallery. Both got waves and waves back.

around 17:00 or so
