All you auto-carwash fans...where are you taking your cars?

Looking for a nice automatic wash place or even handwash place without
tire guide rails near Schaumburg.

Any recommendations? thanks.

Is this a joke? Ken, have you joined the dark side? Should we post this in the detailing forum?

I've gone to this one for the last few years..

Nature's Hand Car Wash
9003 Waukegan Rd
Morton Grove, IL 60053

it's a small hand-wash place (across the street from where Abt used to be...) Lines are not usually long. the only thing they really don't do is wash/rinse the under-carriage. Every time I go, there's usually a few high-end cars getting washed. I talk to the owner everytime I go in AND he usually tells me if another MINI owner comes through.

I know there's a small detailing place on Arlington Hts Rd, just south of Golf Rd (in the same area as the muffler shop).. I've never been in there myself, but I've seen a lot of tuner cars there. I don't know the name of the place. Most of the other car wash places near there are regular car washes with rails and spinning brushes.. ugh!

I'll have to ask the guys at work that live in the area... maybe they might be able to suggest a place and I can post up again..

Try the carwash on the corner of Golf and Higgins, in Schaumburg / Hoffman Estates [Who knows what they classify that corner as!!!]. I Think its called the BUSY BEE. If I can put a firebird with a ground effects package in the automatic car wash --with no outcoming damage!!-- you should be fine.

If you're thinking of the one on the west side of the street (almost across from Mitsuwa) , that one has rails and is an auto-wash... the one I'm thinking of is on the east side of Arlington Hts Rd (just b4 Walgreens) that looks like a detail shop.

as SRICHS mentioned, there is another wash place near Golf/Higgins and another one on Golf east of Roselle (south-east corner). I haven't been to either one, but always look busy...

Check out Route 62 wash... Algonquin and Roselle roughly...

They do have the tire/wheel rails but I have never had any problems and the wash is touch free...

You always see BMW, Mercedes and such there - good joint and a good wash!

srich thanks for the info! autoxcooper, thanks for confirming!
how much is a regular wash there, just exterior is fine.

torobud- i was over at my dealer today and they recommended i take my lowered cars to Route62. i will check out that location too.
what was your price at Route62?

minimac- yah, i was referring to the one west of Mitsuwa (just north)...
I usually take my commuters to the one on Golf just east of Roselle. that
one does have rails and not certain my car will clear it after it's lowered.

Kenchan - Cost of wash is anywhere from 5 bucks to 9 bucks. 5 bucks will get you a exterior wash - no dry.

Handwash? Apparently so...
Tire Guide Rails? Most certainly not!
Near Schaumburg? There's one right by Woodfield.
And your car should be sufficiently dirty by the time summer rolls around in order to use their services.

I am over at Busy Bee 1-2 times per week in the warmer (40+ degrees) weather. But I haven't figured out where to bring the Mini this time of year. We take the Volvo over to the Turtle Wax place on North Wilke Rd. They do a decent job and have never had any problems with the rails. Then again, the Volvo doesn't have low-profile tires like my Mini's summer wheels.

They range anything from about $10 up to a crazy $200 package...

I am normally right in the $15-25 range for a complete interior/exterior wash and dry

Turtle Wax does a nice hand wash, and not a bad regular car wash. Just ask for the manager to pull it in for you. The don't want to scratch your wheels because they are liable if they do.

i sent to Route62 today to get my car washed. $13.95 for exterior wash
and undercarriage, $1 tip. from a detailing standpoint i could not give
any more than $1 for tip.

so total just shy of $15.

thanks again, torobud!

no problemo! Yeah the detailing amount varies from dude to dude... but on average they are normally pretty good...

My favorite part is watching one of the programmed jets targeting the front wheel tire as it goes by and then swinging to target the rear!
