No number on tach... Is there a way to tell from the serial number?
[QUOTE=works4me19;2302904]I would say between $32 and 38k depending on if the car is stock and if it is at a dealership. 5000km is very low mileage.
Yes, I think the car is worth buying. We jumped at ours with 15000km in January 2008. The car was a Canada only edition and there are only 64 of them in the world. They have all the driving options; motorwork, suspension, brakes. Only thing they don't have is cruise control and a strut brace. Strut brace is really easy to add.
Check the tach to see what number it is in the series. Not that it matters what number but if it's there you know the car is legit. It should also come with a JCW factory certificate for the motor.
Of the 64, I believe only 2 didn't have the premium package.
If you buy the car, let us know and congratulations. If not, please let me know as I know someone who wants one.
Where are you?[/QUOTE
How can I tell if my 2006 Cooper JCW, I think, is real and what number of the 64 it is? Is there a way to tell from the serial number?

Great little JCW!
Unfortunately, due to lack of number on the tach first and colour second it is it's not Competition Endition.
Those 64 cars came in following colour combos:
-red with white roof,
-blue with black roof,
-all black....
I do know ONE Competition Edition that came (by mistake) from the factory blue with white roof (owner is a member of my club- TORONTO MINI CLUB). It's featured on second page of this tread (now in Oshawa)...
Your car looks amazing and seems that have almost all options of CE car (you did not show interior or mention suspension or LSD)...
Enjoy it!

Due to engine problems and rising operational costs (don't we all know it), I am respectfully buying #13 from Jinjiro7's to give it a much needed heart transplant and keep it off the market from someone who would part it out or scrap it.
Soon to be in Hamilton, Ontario

So am posting at the request of the owner of #13 , as I have recently purchased #29 to start my R53 journey. I have owned an F56 Justa since 2015, which I have played with to make not so Justa. But found #29 at a Nissan dealer in Hawkesbury, ON and once discerned what it truly was, bought it sight unseen. Flew to Montreal, dealer picked me up, signed papers and drove it back to Niagara Falls. LAST WEEK. This car is as tight or tighter than my lowered F56, drives like a dream and oh that Supercharger whine....
1. Edition #29
2. Colour CHILI RED
3. Location NIAGARA FALLS
4. Mods or any extra relative info. GOING TO KEEP OEM, as possible, maybe with a few minor upgrades like strut tower defenders.

Thread revival.
After a helluvan adventure in rebuilding her, I sold #13 to a buddy of mine, she's in good hands - though the mod bug may have hit him :(
With the help of this thread and others, I'm creating a CE registry.
If you can send me your CE number and the last 7 of the VIN it would be really helpful.
Thanks everyone.

RIP #52 of 64
Today TheOnlyMTS and I witnessed some carnage that I do not like to bring to you.
Five days ago we were alerted from a MINI dealership that they had a CE coming in for trade in, but there seemed to be a few things wrong with it. It had a silver roof, and they couldn't find the CE sticker. The VIN checked out accurate.
Given the VIN, I said that I would buy the car and was eagerly awaiting the call.
Knowing that the sticker may be lost, I decided to try to figure out what CE number it was, so I could remake the sticker myself.... If I only knew the number. That's why I built the Competition Edition Registry. I had one VIN to work from (#13), and 24 "known" colours across the 64 cars. With a significant amount of data mining, my suspicion that the CE's are numbered sequentially off the line held mostly true. The colours all matched up. Currently the list is missing 6 VINs, otherwise I'm quite certain it is accurate. Feel free to contact me with your number and I'll tell you your VIN to prove it. The car in question was no doubt CE#52.
When I arrived at the dealership today, I knew something was wrong immediately. The astro black car I found had pre-facelift headlights. That was just the beginning....
The 3 point check of the VIN were all correct, untampered and matching. The VIN TN25940 checks out. What was going on here?
We started to look at the car more closely and EVERYTHING we found was wrong.
From what we can tell, the shell was rebuilt with S parts. Nothing JCW or CE remains. None of this was documented, and if we can point fingers, we're looking at it's "time" in Montreal.
The only "original" parts are the downtubes, a few of the chromeline pieces and the autofold mirrors are still in place, but have the wrong caps. Everything from the pedals to the exhaust, from the bumper to the rear view mirror is wrong. The bonnet is from a Chili, the front bumper from an electric or hyper blue. The engine is from an S, the door panels and headlights are from a pre-facelift. They cut out the H/K amp and the black interior was removed and the basic one put in place. They didn't even clip the C pillars in properly, the glove compartment was barely hanging on, they stuck the rear wing on with some sort of adhesive like PL2000. Nothing was done correctly, nothing was installed well. Seriously this is a wrek of a car. It's garbage from an S standpoint and I wouldn't pay $500 for it. The folding mirrors are probably the only thing worth it on this car anymore.
I have documented that #52 has been broken apart in the Registry. Be aware that if you see sticker #52 out there - it's not the real thing, VIN TN25940 is no longer a JCW or a CE and would take a MASSIVE restoration to rebuild it.
Here are some images of the carnage.

I'm happy to announce that CE 25 has a new owner - me.
Bought from the original owner in Saskatoon, with 30,142km and never seen a winter. She's moving to the Hamilton Ontario area.
Her name is Saffron, and she will be loved like the queen she is.
I'll be repainting the repainted roof and mirrors back to white (at some point - I kinda like it), and finding some correct shoes for her as time goes on. I will however loose the damn whip antenna.

Since we're updating here, please note that I have created the Competition Edition Registry. I'm just missing data on #3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 64.
It can be used to verify VIN's vs Edition Numbers, and colours etc.
And some more good news...
#01 has been rescued and is in the process of being brought back to a decent car (it wasn't cared for well by the last few owners).
