JCW Seats

Hi All,

I've been shopping around for some JCW seats front and rear and so far have been fortunate enough to find a dealer that's helpful with customer service and price.

I've spoke to them and have been advised that the fabric JCW front and rear seats they can do for $5000 fully fitted inclusive of labour. Do you think this is a fair deal?

Also, does anyone know where i can see pics of the fabric upholstery?

Kudos

Price seems a little rich, I think there may be a set of second hand cloth fronts in Melbourne.

Look at "Sparco Milano Prestige" ...I am pretty sure this is the same seat and can be had for a little over 3K for the pair...this is what is in MSFITOY and what I hope to add someday

JCWMiniS 07-26-2006 06:21 AM

Price for aftermarket seats, 5K sounds ok.

I was pricing some racing shells for my Mini, and iw as quoted 1k per seat including parts and labor. These were Sparco Evo seats and it was from a shop called OG Racing.
Sport seats, as opposed to shells, can be more expensive, so 5K doesnt sound unreasonable for JCW seats and labor.
If you do get racing shells you will need an anti-roll bad because they dont break in the even of an accident like reg. seats.

I also have a JCW and i wish it came with the awesome seats like those in ROW JCW cars. These seats suck!!! My back always hurts and there is no comfortable postion. Also, when I corner, there is no lateral support. They look pretty but are bad to drive in. I am def. getting aftermarket seats. :)

search ebay.. there are several Sparco

Milano Prestige for an average of $1699 per

Thanks for your suggestions guys.

Well, to be honest going "official" was bound to land me deep in my pocket. But at the moment i really love my MINI so anything i am adding to it i am always trying to keep it as close to factory as possible.

As JCWMiniS mentioned and i have to agree, for BMW/MINI the $5K is reasonable considering i spoke to another dealership today who said they will charge me $2500 for each front seat not including labour for another $400.

Thanks people.

SpiderX,

Yeah, come visit Oz. I had American friends from Cali visit last January as i was returning the hospitality they showed me while i was in LA. They had a great time.

Anyway, here are pics i've taken from the dealership. They were kind enough to organise for me to see the seats this past weekend (even let me sit in it - tight and firm, great for spirited runs).

I put my deposit down as i reallt couldn't believe how nice and comfortable it was. They will order the matching rear seats and should arrive in 3 weeks.

JCW Sport Seat

The actual seat suppled to JCW by Sparco is the Sparco Demon Street Seat.

One of the guys here has just put a pair of cobra's in the front...he had to fabricate the brackets and get it all engineered....think it cost him just over $3k all said and done....

They look sweet though (They weren't as comfy for me as I'd expected, though)...

I'm about to put a sparco evo2 in mine...the normal seats hurt my back...

Did you loose any leg room or height (seat bottom to headliner) when you had these installed? Also could confirm if it retains height adjustment. This may be a moot point as I would like to add these to my car but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to work the system to get them here as they (JCW) won't ship to the USA (and say they won't allow me to purchase in UK for export to UK but not sure how they would even know).

Thanks!

project_wonderboy 09-05-2006 12:51 AM

Hello TDer,

The height adjustment is gone as and rear legroom is smaller due to the size of the seats of the front and rear (JCW seats for both front and rear).

The height of the seats (headliner) has not been affected from driving after 3 weeks of installation.

The seats are tight but they're supposed to be. I'll try posting pics of the rear seats too.

JCW seats look great :)
