Tires and Arkansas Weather
Hey all,
I feel like I should warn people that I'm new (haven't even received my Mini, who has already been named Marge).
I'm curious as to the if the stock tires that come with the car are suitable for the winters here in Little Rock. I'm particularly worried about the hill on 430 right before the Arkansas River. My husband and I were stationed here a little over a year ago..... but unfortunatley I broke my ankle and leg while hiking on Pinnacle
, and rehabed in Indiana, and missed out on the winter here.
So teach me, guide me, show me the mini ways.

I have a 2004 MCS, and have driven it through snow and ice in Washington, DC, just fine. The all traction control (or whatever it is called) will get you through just about anything because it prevents your tires from spinning. The tread on the tires seems to be just fine for hill climbing.
Ice and snow is so rare in Arkansas I think you'll be just fine with most any kind of tires. I live in Russellville and have yet to have the need to drive my 4 year-old MINI in ice or snow. Having front-wheel drive should alone be enough for the mild Arkansas winters, even during the infrequent snow and ice we do sometimes get.
Having moved up to Northwest Arkansas in late January/early February, I experienced some of this Arkansas winter. I just bought my 03 Cooper about a month ago and I'm pretty curious of the same thing. However, being FWD and having DSC, everything should be koscher. My Honda Prelude did just fine when I first moved up here in all the ice and snow we had but my Prelude doesn't have DSC and it's heavier. So I've got pretty high hopes for my Mini.
