c3 is the official club hosting the AMVIV Kick Off dinner of Friday, March 4th. This is a Fund Raiser for CAN (CureAutismNow.org). We went through a lot of hoops including putting up our own cash to make this a fantastic dinner, with goodie bags filled with really cool MINI stuff, and lots of raffle items including an Outmotoring.com ARC armrest, Custom Whalen Shift Machine, and products from Nike Vision, the high end Oliver Peoples, Meguiar's, VacuCam, and Southbay MINI!
You can read about the event and prepay. It's only $35 now, and that gets you a goodie bag, buffet dinner, live music, a private area big enough for 400 people, private parking, and a chance to win some of the coolest raffle items, but we need your help! There are only 43 days left!
Preregistration ends on Sunday, February 27.
Signing up is a 2 step process. First RSVP, then you can pay via PayPal--just add the number of people you are registering. If you want to pay by check, just do the first RSVP part, and send us your check.

I wanted to write to the Mini / MINI Community to tell you my story and involvement with c3 (Cooper Club for Charities). I am a single father of two beautiful kids Chelsea 12 and Ryan 11. My son Ryan was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at the age of two.
Autism is a growing epidemic:
Cooper Club for Charities, c3 has put in many hours of planning and many hours of calling and e-mailing to make this dinner not only fun but also a great event for Cure Autism Now Foundation. Our thanks go out to the many vendors’ dealers and corporations who have helped make this a truly memorable evening.
For this dinner to be a success we need you, Mini / MINI owners and enthusiasts to join us for a fun filled evening of music, food and prizes. Great prizes! 200 participants is our goal and to date we are at 80. Please consider reserving your spot today and “Let’s RSVP for a worthy cause.”
On behalf of my family we thank you for helping Cure Autism Now.
Autism is a growing epidemic:
- In 1994, 1 in 2,500 children were affected by autism.
- In 1999, the stats were 1 in 500.
- In 2004, the numbers have risen to 1 in 166 children.

Dom,
I don't think science has honed in on exactly what is causing it. I have "heard" many rumors over the past several years related to something in childhood vaccinations being a problem, for example, the usage of mercury in the measles shots. But I know of no definitive cause. It does seem to strike more boys than girls.
c3 wants to support charities that focus on the needs of children and the elderly. James came to us and told us about his son, Ryan, and CAN. We realized we had to do something to help raise funds for research, and have enthusiastically joined the fight by planning the Vegas Dinner.
James and c3 have worked very hard to educate those of us in the MINI community and to spread the word about the search for a cure. I hope that everyone coming to AMVIV-2 will commit to attending the Kick-Off Dinner to support CAN.
Thanks.
Clover

With these kinds of stats it's not surprising that we all might know of someone who is affected by autism. I look forward to meeting you in Vegas and getting a chance to chat.
This is from CAN's web site:
What is Autism
Autism is a developmental disability that affects, often severely, a person's ability to communicate and socially interact with others. It is four times more prevalent in males than females.
Currently, autism is believed to affect 1 in every 166 people. The rate of people being diagnosed with autism has increased substantially over the past two decades. Although this may be in part due to improved diagnostic techniques and to changes in the criteria for autism spectrum disorders (see below), the majority of experts agree these changes are not enough to explain the epidemic rates at which autism is being diagnosed.
Autism Spectrum Disorders is an umbrella term that includes classic autism (also known as Kanner's autism or Kanner's syndrome), Asperger's syndrome, and pervasive developmental disorder (PDD). Autism is considered a spectrum disorder because the number and intensity of the symptoms people with autism display may vary widely. However, all people with autism demonstrate impairments in the following three areas: communication, social relationships and restricted patterns of behavior.
The spectrum ranges from those who are severely affected, less able, and dependent on others to those who are of above-average intelligence and independent, yet lacking in social skills.

We just got a G100a PCDA and detailing kit from Meguiars!!! Who wants one?
It's the Dual Action Orbital Bufer that professionals use to buff out their cars. It's sooo easy to use that you can be a pro after one use. We use this tool exclusively on our monthly NXT garage clinics, and Meguiar's has donated a brand new one with backing plate and foam pad--this alone is a $240 value.
This is Nathaniel using the PCDA for the first time at our clinic in January.
See more pics from the clinic
