WTB: Brake Ducts to fit '04 MCS w/Aero Kit

I'm looking for the nice MINI Challenge kit that was offered on the JCW site in GB. Here's a picture of the duct and throat kit for the regular bumper, I want the ones that fit the Aero Kit...

I don't care if they're used, just so they work and are in reasonably good shape.
PM me if you have a set you'd like to part with and we'll negotiate a price.

I looked into this a little while ago. A friend of mine worked for Mini Canada when they were preparing the Targa Newfoundalnd cars. JCW sent a set over, but Mini USA and Mini Canada never brought them in. They were over 300 UK pounds, which translates into about $590.00 USD. And, they only the standard bumper.

They do make a set for the aero bumper. But they are sold out at the moment, and they are not planning to make more. Is like what markertoo
said, they are little over 300 pound including shipping, that's 700cad. I think is a little over price to two piece of ABS plastic, but I was thinking to duplicate a set at my friend's shop. I wonder will people here be interested. I'm guess 250usd to 300usd max.

I'd definitely be interested! 250 - 300 USD sounds reasonable to me.

I would get a set for the aero kit if you could make them.

$300 is not reasonable for two pieces of tubing. Once the mold is made, they should be able to be produced for a few bucks apiece. Mark them up 10 times and a nice profit could be made selling them for $50 a set.

Well good news. I have some prototype ducts that we are currently getting ready to mass produce. So I will have them for sale soon. I'll let you know as soon as we have a date they will be ready.

Thanks

if you think it is that easy to do, go ahead and do it.... and sell it for 50 a set. Count me in for 10 sets then.

I'll let you guys know as soon as we get things together. It should be next week. I was going to have them made in Carbon Fiber, but you don't even want to know what that was going to cost.

I agree with Yucca. There's no reason something like this should cost so much once the mold is made. I understand there is a cost in development but it would seem more peices sold at a reasonable cost would provide more than few peices sold at a high cost.

MINIGURU, keep us updated. I would really like to purchase a set for the JCW brakes. As for carbon fiber. I'd rather have ugly old plastic as long as they work. It's for go. Not show. Actually. That should read "It's for Stop" but it doesn't sound right.

Update: The molds are being finished up. I was promised that I will have product in 2 weeks to test fit. I even have a GP lined up for one of the first test fittings. We are shooting for a price of $300 or less if that will get you to save your pennies. We will also be able to do them in Carbon but the price will double at least. But may offer just the front scoops on Carbon as a cheaper alternative. I'll update you again after the fittings.

I hope the ones for the GP will keep the frt. cover intakes in the cover. The cap on the back comes off. You may want to take a look at one. Most GP owner's want to keep the cars as close to original as possible.

We are planning on keeping the GP front intact. That's why I have a GP getting one of the first 2 sets. If I had a GP I wouldn't want to cut the front bumper either.

As for pics, when we have them done I'll post em.

Thanks for the info. If you have a BBK without the backing plate will the duct still work. Just wondering how they mount at the brakes?
Thanks

Yes they should work. That's what I have on my car and I will use them on it.

Our plan is to make them be able to fit Aero, Non Aero and GP cars. We will be picking up the first prototypes this week and test fitting to gear up for production. I'll keep you up to date after we do some test fits.

UPDATE Brake Ducts are DONE. We had a set on display at AMVIV and the response was great. The introductory price will be $275 for a set. These were made for non aero bumpers but with the design of the front scoop they won't look bad with the aero bumpers, we compared them several times at AMVIV. I hope to have pics up later this week. Email or call us if your interested or have questions.
