what are these things for...where do they go?

 

They go on the Driver's Downtube, on the left side of it. Under hard cornering or if you are tall (like me) your right leg near the knee rests on the left side of that Downtube. This cushions the area. You kind of wedge it up there between the dash and the down tube and there is doublesided tape to hold it on the down tube. Very effective, highly recommended. You may see more for sale here, since the R56 does not have Down Tubes. Michael

 

I just wear a $5 knee pad when autocrossing, but I'm stylish like that.
