This is lighter than 03's? Let me know if you come across more of these.

From WMS:
Link
"The '05 cars after January build dates have a different crank pulley from the factory. That crank pulley weighs in a 5.5 lbs, whereas the earlier cars all the way back to '02 have the same 7.2lb crank pulley. The Alta pulley weighs 0.9 lbs. Here are shots of the different pulleys:"

Your one of the lucky ones. People are finally getting what the pulley is worth. Plus they are getting hard to find.

With the '02 and '03 OEM pulley starting to fail, I can't imagine the prices getting any better either.

Just remember if you have a faulty damper replaced under warranty or at your own cost at a dealer they are using the new style as a replacement.

How do you know if your damper is faulty or failing?

Folks, you do realize that by continuing this frenzy, you are driving up the cost of these parts?
My advice, for anyone having a pulley changed, is to KEEP THE PART! Why should installers get a free $100? They have no cost in the part, it is just something someone left behind (who didn't know any better).
Now, $100 installed, that might be a deal. How about it, Chad?

That must mean you need one. Long ride to Chad's. I would believe Chad asked the customer if he really wanted it back knowing Chad. Maybe he's selling it for his customer.

Right. Chad is one of the good guys. The customer probably just told him to keep it, and he doesn't need it, so sell it.

3cocinas and newbs49, which thread are we going to next?

it's true. it was off a customers car. and i always ask every customer if he would like his parts back. some say yes, they better keep them just in case, so i box them up to keep the car clean and away we go. others never want to see them again and say keep them. by law we have to offer them back. but believe me, i wish every customer would take his/her exhaust system with them. they tend to pile up....lol we make a few extra bucks here and there to help keep the shop open, or design new items. like our new belt tensioner stop...oops did i just say that? it's about to release, so you will all see it soon.

So Chad ,are you saying the storage area has more exhaust systems then when I was there over a year ago? I know I have 2 in my garage. They just don't seem to want to leave home. Sorta like kids.

Last year at the Dragon, Chad asked if I wanted my stock pulley back. At the time they weren't going for much. Not enough people knew the benefit at the time to drive the prices up to where they are now. So I said to keep it. Plus, had something eventually gone wrong that was caused by the pulley. I sure couldn't put the old one back on by myself then carry it to the dealer and say "I don't know what happened". So it wouldn't have done me much good at the time. I feel it was worth a few bucks since it was nice to have someone come to an area near home that actually knew how to work on a MINI.

yeah, i can have anywhere from 2 to 15 Exhaust piles up here. right now i actually have none!! we cleaned up for the Christmas holiday, i just take them to the scrap yard. and again make about 13 for 15 systems. it buys us some Starbucks.

Thanks SB, hows the car running? any new mod plans? you know, we will be back for another round in may. it will not be too long and I'll be posting info on that. it's going to be big!

Chad
