WTB - JCW springs

Looking for a used set of JCW springs.

Perhaps a JCW owner would like to go lower?

Just to be sure you already know, JCW springs don't come with the JCW package, even from the factory. The springs come only as part of the JCW suspension package available only from the dealer or other aftermarket companies. So to be clear either to you or a potential seller, you're not looking for springs off just any JCW.

So if your order a JCW , they don't come with JCW springs? What do they come with?

They come with the sport suspension plus springs (the std MCS suspension), unless you specifically buy the JCW suspension from your dealer (or elsewhere). Not the most intuitive thing. The JCW kit from the factory only comes with the brake kit and LSD (along with the mandatory sport package). From the dealer, even the brake kit is seperate.

I've been offered a used set and just want to make sure that they are the real deal - is there a way to identify JCW springs?

Well, JCW springs are red, but of course they could have been powdercoated or something. As far as other physical features, I'm not sure, they are only marginally shorter than the standard springs, I forget how much. You could check the part number with your dealer? Oh, that actually reminds me too, there are about 5 or so different possible JCW spring combinations, which the dealer would select based on your VIN number, to match the spring tuning to your car's factory options (such as sunroof or not), which ever-so slightly change the weight distribution and CG of the car. I'm not sure how different they all are, it can't be that much, but... you may want to find out how similiar the sellers car is to your own, depending on how serious you are.

Out of curiousity, for how much were you looking to buy used? I would think some places would discount the suspension kit to around 800-900 or so.

You might check Motoringfile for info on the JCW spring kit. There are links to the JCW kit in detail, as well as install instructions etc.

Hope that helps.

I have a set that I am going to be taking off of my car if you are interested. They are the red JCW springs that came on my JCW Suspension kit. I am replacing them with the slightly shorter M7 springs, although I want to powder coat them first. Anyone know a good place to get that done? Why they were ever made silver/gray is beyond me. I love the looks of the red, especially with my calipers.
