FS: Brand New OEM Aero Kit Chilli Red

Hi, I have an CR aero kit for the Cooper (non-S) that I bought three months go. This kit is brand new and still in the box. It is factory painted and includes front and rear bumpers, sideskirts, and an aero grill set. I got these for $1,700 (tax not included). Anyhow, I need money for my suspension upgrade and willing to let these go for $1,500 (shipped by FedEx) or OBO. Please let me know and thank you.

This is going to hurt, but I feel obligated to tell you that currently, your asking price is high compared to the market. A week or two ago, a Mini dealership that sponsors Motoringfile started running a promotion on the Cooper non-S aero kits for $850, in a few colours that include Chili Red. It may be a limited time sale (ie. inventory blowout) or could run a few months, but at this point, it's not looking likely you'll be able to get your asking price. Sorry to be the one to break the news, but I hope that you obtain your suspension mods soon.

Latte, thanks for your acknowledgment. I guess it is the wrong time for me to sell these, but I really need the money for my suspension upgrade. I'll bite my teeth and will let these go for $875 shipped. Thanks again, please let me know.

even if you buy it at $800.00, they will clock you at least $75.00 to ship it, and i mean at least, if you are lucky and if you are near by, oversized shipping applies on those items and it might cost a lot.

I now remember why it is irritating to read marketplace posts on NAM now. I think the response right after the initial thread was started, established what the market value was (800-900$), so eurazn brings his price down to something compareable. And even that price gets beat into the ground. Very nice.

Agreed... IMO, a moderator should have deleted all posts bitching about the price.

Would you be willing to sell them separately? Its really only the rear that is model-specific.

I'm interested in the side skirts and the rear. Can you please post some pics?

I agree, isn't it let the buyer beware not let's all beat down the seller with sale prices? It just seems out of place, PM the seller if you are trying to help them or want to barter, otherwise they will just figure out the price is too high on their own when it does not sell - no point in ruining their chances publicly, it's bad form IMHO.

(On second thought I can understand a potential buyer bartering in a thread if they must, but not just recreational price bashing by uninterested parties under most circumstances.)

Perhaps is all about timing. True, motoringfile had a very tempting sale two weeks ago (ie: I am taking my car in for installation on Tuesday).
I would hold on selling it for a couple of weeks and I'll bet you will definately be able to sell it at a better price. If not...well you should install it. It definately helps the MC look much tighter.

i had a heated discussion last week with another party on this issue, that time noone backed me on the matter, however i am absolutely opposed to uninterested party interference, so that is why i do pms if i am interested iin an item. Agreed with everything you said eVal

$875 is a good price! ...It should go soon, But pictures is what sells it, especially from individuals most people wont buy anything without seeing the product no matter what the price.

It depends on where your loyalties lay. I would rather make sure a NAM brother does not get jacked and overpay for an item that is much cheaper on ebay or motoringfile than I am making sure someone gets top dollar on an item.

Even with good motives you are basically infringing on someone's for sale ad. Would it be okay if someone selling the same items jumped into people's marketplace ads and undercut them for the supposed benefit of a buyer? Or a store selling it? Also, when people jump in posting sales prices they do not even know if the item is in stock or if the price they are referring to is still good but still ruin it for the seller very publicly.

I still think a marketplace thread should be treated like any classified ad elsewhere and respect the seller's right to ask for what he see's fit without interference (the reasonable exception being if someone knows for sure that the seller is unscrupulous or selling bad items, even then the best action might be to notify the mods) - afterall its not a topical thread for conversation it is posted for sale listing.

On other forums I did not see the beat down of the sellers by uninterested parties to the degree that it happens here; some people in the past seem to have made a sport of it and derived some sort of pleasure in just basically posting 'that's too high' to marketplace ads. Perhaps the other forums were moderated or people realized that the open market was not their affair and the price would work itself out naturally, I don't know but it seemed more a more appropriate way to treat the person who posted an item for sale. Again, there is always the option PM the seller and or the people showing interest if someone really wants to be involved without destroying the listing.

Personally I think it would be a good idea for NAM to moderate replies to marketplace listings and have guidelines about jumping in those threads and state something re: the notion of respecting the sellers.

PS: This is not directed at you specifically planeguy, I understand that you mean well, but just my response to the topic in general.

By the by eurazn, I hope you get a good price for your kit, many people have spent, and will spend, quite a bit more on theirs then your orginal price.

No, I understand. I think it is a good topic to debate actually. Maybe we should start a thread on it. I see both sides. I just come down on the buyers side.

I don't think that NAM should moderate the marketplace any more than I think any regulatory agent, like the gov't should meddle in buisness. Things work best by the free marketplace. Since most people are non-confrontational in real life they dont say what they really think to sellers. I actually think the seller is dis-serviced by this because it takes much longer for someone who is priced to high to sell thier item. sometimes that means making $1000's of dollars in payments before the item finally sells at the same price as it would have months before if it had been priced to the market to begin with.

It may seem like a little rude or bad in form, But ultimitely I think both buyer and seller win in the end by quicker sales at the true market value of an item

BTW.....I hope eurazn sees this as a bunch of free bumps, rather than a thread hijack
