What about the passenger side airbag? It appears there is supposed to be a section just for that. Here below is a pic of what I am talking about:

 

Take a look at PGT's photo above; this is a 3-piece dash that is for sale here, while your photo is of the older model 5-piece dash. I understand that they are not really able to be interchanged, mostly due to the airbag assembly in the pre-7/2004 models, but I am sure someone will correct me, if I am mistaken.

 

Yeah, 02-04 use the 5 piece dash (like the MC40 in the picture) while the 05-06 uses the 3 piece dash

 

Doesn't the airbag come through the top of the dash...you should be able to see a very mild rectangle where it comes out on top of the dash.

 

I put a 3- piece dash in my '02. I know it isn't safe, but I look at it this way. I rarely drive with anyone. Also im never in the passenger seat, so I won't be the one getting nailed with a dash piece
