Thurs B'ham-Dragon Caravan?

A plan was mentioned to meet at Pizza Hut in Trussville Thursday morning & caravan up to the dragon together. How bout if we change that & meet at Waffle House in case people get there early & want to grab a cup of Java or some breakfast. Plan on pulling out at 8:45AM. If anybody wants to meet there please post in this thread. If no one posts that they wanna meet I am not stopping & will just keep on trucking down I-59 & see you guys at the dragon
& for the love of all if I oversleep again & am late please just leave me

The Waffle House is at exit #141 on I-59
(it's the 1st exit after entering I-59 from 459)

warning: I have mapped out 2 Petey the puppy pit-stops (#1 at Shoney's in Ft Payne, AL, #2 at an I-75 rest area in Calhoun, TN) & I also tend to set my cruise control at around 8 to the 5 when I am on a long trip.

That sounds about right for us time wise, so we will see you at the Awful-House. We should be able to hang with you. We will have our walkie charged up and ready. PM me for a cell number.

Says I may be there at 8:45. I may forget and sleep a bit past then. Please wait on me tho.

Louispup Apr 29, 2007 04:51 PM

Yay, the waffle house. A dragon tradition here.

Look forward to it and will join you all there, refreshed and fully packed, Lord willing.

I have printed out route maps for everyone
just call me the psycho route map queen

Sounds like a convoy....Susan and I will be there from Baton Rouge.

The one we are meeting at is off I-59. Take exit 141 & go right at the bottom of the ramp. The Awful House is 3/10 of a mile down on the right.
The official address is:
1128 North Chalkville Road
Trussville, AL 35173

See you there

davavd Apr 30, 2007 07:41 AM

I'll be in Starkville, MS on Wed. nite, so IF I can get moving by 6:15 Thur. AM, I might just look for y'all. I'm so excited about the Dragon, I might be there waiting .

jst4fun Apr 30, 2007 08:21 AM

Yep Davavd, Starkvegas, is only about 3:15 from that Trussville exit. Remember it will be B'ham rush hour that time so, if you want my cell phone IM me and I'll send it.
 Don't think the Waffle House Parking lot gonna hold all of us.
We Might wanta move the meeting place to the parking lot right behind Pizza Hut, which is just right across the street from Waffle House.
Either way, Coop is getting his last minute interior deatailng ready, and it ant going so well, but is revvvvvvinnnnnn up to go.

bamatt Apr 30, 2007 08:39 AM

Let's leave the meet at the Awful House so as not to cause confusion. If the lot is full just look for a MINI nearby & park there

davavd Apr 30, 2007 08:47 AM

Google maps says 2:49, so 25 extra minutes for rush hour, huh? GM shows me taking 459 around the south side - is that the best?

MINIclo and I plan to spend Tuesday night in Decatur, AL and take off early Wednesday morning for the Dragon. If anyone is leaving Wednesday morning from the Decatur / Huntsville area give a shout and we’ll see if we can hook up with you.

I live South of there so I would always take 459. MBE jst4fun can chime in as he is more familiar with the area & traffic but IMHO I would go 459. If you stay on I-20 to I-59, in Birmingham you have to go thru a horrible intersection of interstates that we call "malfunction junction" & traffic flow on 459 is usually much smoother

jst4fun Apr 30, 2007 09:42 AM

yep take 459 east south of Birmingham til it ends back into I-59 N. Once you get back onto I-59, its the next exit, then right off to the right.
PS: wondering can you use super glue on the MINI?:eek2:

Louispup Apr 30, 2007 10:07 AM

don't know. So would 07s use turbo glue?

Louispup Apr 30, 2007 11:08 AM

Sorry, a lame effort of pointing out that "super"charged has become "turbo" charged.

So, with your drum stuff, must be quite a loud ride through the Dragon in your fully-loaded MINI, huh!? :eek2::lol:

Yucca Patrol May 1, 2007 06:37 AM

I'm heading out this morning, but will leave a trail of waffle crumbs for my Alabama friends to follow.

"Yucca's route": Get off the interstate at either exit 60 or 62. Take whatever highway to HWY 411 and go north. Turn right onto hwy 72, turn right on US-129, enjoy. . . .

bamatt May 1, 2007 06:39 AM

I have us getting off in Sweetwater

Louispup May 1, 2007 09:30 AM

but we all get off on the dragon, don't we?

There's so much on the Thursday docket that there may not be time for a Car 84 Dragon run before Friday. I may just have to brake from the pack.

Clo- I'm not bringing as much as last time, but my beloved futon cover is history so there will be some rattling this year. Not like a steel drum of red bull though.
