Possible new MINI owner in Birmingham...

I am going to try and get out of my S2000 and into a MINI, I am a long time BMWCCA member and work with a BMW professional race team and I have also been hanging out with some British Car Club guys, getting a MINI will fulfill both of my car club needs, 2 geeks with one calculator so to speak.
If any of you guys have leads on an MCS in the area at a dealer I might be able to trade with or know of someone wanting to get out of their MINI please PM me.
Thanks,
Robert

Robert welcome to NAM & Minis. We in Birmingham will be getting together the 1st Monday in March for our monthly meet-n-eat. Watch this board for more details & please come join us. Also check out www.bamamini.com for info on past & future events.

You might try checking the NAM marketplace for some Minis for sale in the surrounding states (some of our fellow NAMers price their Minis too high but many price them reasonably). Also you might think of checking the 2 Atlanta dealerships for used Minis.

Hope to see you at a future event
Teresa

Carmax lists an '04 MCS in Bham. See http://www.carmax.com/dyn/factsheet/...spx?id=4009224

None found at Driver's Way.

Nashville has quite a few MINI's and they are discounting prices. Something to at least compare the used car prices to since as used cars they sale for near new prices.

Thanks guys, I'll check into them, the price on the 04 at Carmax seems crazy high, is that about right?

The one at Hoover Toyota is a non-S model with CVT.

Not a necessity but if possible I recommend getting an 05 or 06 model. The transmissions were improved & many early kinks had been worked out by 05

I think the one at Carmax is priced too high. Here in the NAM markertplace there is an 06 w/16K miles for $19.5K (in Georgia).

You might also go over to the Altanta Minis Website & post there to see if anybody knows of any for sale

Thanks for the advice, are there any other things I should avoid or look for on one?
I am not concerned with premium/luxury packages or panorama roofs, I am looking for a more basic MCS that I can mod and take to the track with the BMWCCA.
I will be doing suspension, brakes, and engine mods fairly quickly when I get one.

The one on NAM from GA looks pretty basic. My cabrio was pretty loaded & I haven't really had any major mechanical probs with it except for one with the top. I can't think of anything to tell you to avoid right now. But.... I am drinking out of my Christmas wine glass tonight (long story) so at the moment nothing clear comes to mind
