Micro-car Museum: who's interested?

We just found out about the Micro-car museum located about 50 miles east of Atlanta and are dying to go.

the museum is only open 2 days during the week but will open by appointment on Saturdays.

It would be approximately a 3 hour drive each way so this would be one long day of motoring but well worth it!

I am hoping to organize at least a small group to go along with us sometime after the new year on a Saturday. We have contacted the museum and are awaiting a reply. I'd like to know how many might be interested in such a trip.

I am!! But I'm in California

You should check out some of the photos from the latest meet linked from here: http://www.microcar.org/2005/index.html

We actually owned a Bianchina briefly, it was beyond 'cute' in its tiny-ness - smaller then a classic Mini

I want to go SO BADLY. I emailed them and told them that I didn't think that I could promise a large group?????, but that we would be happy to go ANY Saturday that he wanted to open............Do we know if the Atlanta group has done this? Would they like to?

We have been there on a Polar Bear Run with an LBC club from the Atlanta area. It is truly great and the cars are fantastic. I think if you picked a date, out ahead a bit, publicized it, you might be able to get attendance from groups around. I don't think ATL MINIs have been there. Is there a minimum number for attendance? When we went it was free but they accepted donations for the local humane society. I thought that was fabulous, especially considering the calibur and quantity of cars to look at. Sorry, spacing is not working in FF for some reason.

You must take the virtual tour (and then come for the real thing)

 This looks like a very fun trip! I want to go, too! Will have to plan it into my Spring Roadtrip, for sure!

I would like to go just give me a little advanced notice. I have nothing planned for Saturdays in January. You ought to shoot an email to the Altanta Mini club & see if they want to go 2.

I sent an email to the contact person on the Atlanta site...........haven't heard yet.:) Pass it on for me if you know anyone! The date really depends on when they want to open for a Saturday since weekends are by appointment........It is free with suggested donations to a humane society (Yucca and I like to give to animal charities). A bigger group might encourage them to want to open on a Saturday.

Looks like it would be fun. Can we wear clown costumes?

Instead of a special Saturday appointment, Monday, Jan. 16th might be a possibility. Schools, banks, Post Office, etc. will all be closed that day since it's the MLK Birthday holiday.

PurplePeopleEater Nov 28, 2005 08:03 AM

Sadly, they are only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays and only offer appointments on Saturday (according to the website).........We haven't heard back from them (sent and email).
I am glad that you are interested :)

Sounds like a blast

Looks like they are closed from Christmas until Jan 9th so it will have to be one of the following weekends I'd guess. There are also beautiful Victorian and Antebellum homes to see in Madison, so that may add another drive while there.

any more news?:)

Yucca Patrol Dec 6, 2005 12:54 PM

we will try to get back in contact with them very soon, although since they will be closed for a month or so, it might be January before we can pin down a date. . .
