Motorsport photography on the dragon
Six bucks per shot, professionally photographed, well composed and framed is a downright bargain IMO. KB and crew Have been out there for years perfecting their shots, and it shows. Poring over the thousands of shots on a typical MOTD is both a lot of fun and tedious, but is rewarding. Among the colorful MINIs would be a shot or few of some retiree toodling by in their Caddy DeVille, and even those shots impart a sense of adventure and motion. Said retiree might decide to pull up killboy.com and find shots of his drive to see the grandkids looking like a day at the rally, and even if he doesnt eventually pick up the photos, at least feel a bit proud seeing the shot.
I bet almost everyone at MOTD who ran up and down the Dragon looked forward to seeing KB around the bend, and probably made sure they lined up their shot just so, and stayed the heck away from that yella line.
On a couple occasions, I have pulled off the road and tried my hand at similar photography. I am not a total noob, but it takes a great deal of work and huge amounts of trial and error to even come close to a typical KB picture. I wont try to compete by any means, just get in some good practice to learn how to make my own shots better. In doing so, I got to realize the value of KB's services (as well as the others) by observing behind the camera, then from behind the monitor as I pore over my shots to categorize them and find the good ones. If I were in the business, I would think that charging only six dollars per photo is not enough.
Thanks again, Darryl & crew, as well as the newcomer photographers for helping me make memories.

Darryl's prices are low. We all have a cost of doing business and that includes, as Darryl says, a lot of things you might not think of. When you spend a day shooting and a night editing, post-processing, uploading, and dealing with customer issues and you don't cover those costs, much less put food on the table and pay the mortgage, you're not going to be out there providing a service for long. Heck, I think he should raise his prices. No way could I do it for that. $40-$50 is typical for a high-res digital image and I'm reluctant to even do it at that price since you're effectively selling the negative and losing control of any possible additional print sales.
