Fretful is a stretch. I am only trying to help things run smoother - advance information is always preferred over on-the-spot discovery. Besides, I don't really care, DCMM has 22/22.

How about reserving channel 19 for obnoxious random shoutouts. I know there were a few individuals (I won't name any names) last your that enjoyed this past-time. . . .

Did you guys even read through the thread? Being on the same channel will cause communications overlap, even though you are using different subchannels...

We'll adjust as necessary. Once we're out of line of sight, we shouldn't have interference. As I undeerstand the thread, the alternate channels are for groups staying in touch around Fontana Village.

I'm sure we can adjust. We're staying up in Alcoa, and I'll have an alternate channel after I see how the rest of this fills in. In general, I've not noticed side-band interference out of sight.

But hey, we called dibs first!

Thanks!

Primarily, yes. However everyone is strongly encouraged to stay on 7/21 when out driving, so that we can warn each other about road hazards, etc. It won't be congested because the mountains and curves will keep the range very short.

By "we", do you mean an Audi group? Just curious, based upon your name & sig. I like Audis too, so I don't mean it in a snobby way.

Actually, you didn't... at least not for MOTD - post #20:

Edge-
Was sort of JK about "dibs" based on the list at Post #1. We (Audi "Quattro de Mayo") will listen for interference. I'll have the comm card pasted-up so I can alert our crew dogs to change channels IF necessary. Hopefully everyone will remember to switch to the 'mission freq' when they leave the cluster and get out on the road. SInce we're up in Alcoa, we should only experience interference around Fontana. W're also trying to hit the Dragon at different places and times than MOTD. Hopefully, we'll get to wave w/o swearing about comms!

Cool - I hope that MOTD people stick to 7/21 when driving as well... it's a safety matter, because we can give each other advance warning about accidents, oversized vehicles, etc. We should all be on the same channel when out driving. Transmit distance will be greatly reduced during those times anyway, so less toe-stepping.

As for being on the Dragon at different places and times... regardless of the "organized" events at MOTD, there will pretty much always be a lot of us on the Dragon... with over 500 MINIs expected, we'll be hard to avoid!

Just curious - how many Audis are coming? One of my good friends is very much into Audis - gave me some appreciation for them.

We're committed to about 40 cars: TT, S4, S6, RS4 (one or two) and even some uRQ!

We've talked about breaking down into smaller "chalks"- we can slip in between lotsaminis that way!

I'll look at the Calendar of Events and recommend a low-level fly by!

That's just for CBs, and even then by convention, not federal mandate (as I understand it).

I'm unsure if it's permissible, but in the future you may want to consider enlisting the help of local amateur radio operators if there are more "official" tasks that require reliable communications. It would also free up some of the FRS/GMRS channels for group use.
