MINI Monte Carlo Night at MOTD 2007 presented by MINI USA & PITTSTOP MINI
Whew! ...Just getting back in gear here. Hopefully Pamalalala and mielnicki are getting some much-deserved rest today!
Thanks for all the positive feedback!
We are plenty aware of the potential growth explosion for next year and there are already some things in motion for larger spaces - not only for this event but dinners, etc.
We also know that gambling space was a little tight. Part of it was because we had a tight budget this year (we scaled the tables back) and partly because of first-time lessons learned.
Pre-registration is almost a must - walk-in ticket sales at the door makes planning table space very difficult (but we can also put a cap on the tickets for sale at the door).
There is still a lot of discussion around which night to hold it. With some potential (not certain) overall format changes that were put on the table in a discussion among event coordinators there is a good argument for keeping in on Saturday. ...but clearly there are also good reasons to have it on Thursday. Work on the entire 2008 MOTD will start earlier than ever before with more/better inter-group/event communication but it is way too early to make many firm statements.
Thanks to all who came and thanks again for the feedback. We hope everyone had a good time. We certainly hope to grow and improve things for next year!

For the record I was just as geeked out as everyone about the Monte Carlo night. I look at the planning it took to pull that off and it makes the swap seem easy.
What are we gonna call Monte Carlo Night 2 anyway? Brew Swap 3 is naturally gonna be "The Third Round". What's MCN2 gonna be... the 2nd Hand, 2nd Roll, Dueces Wild? I'm dying here, help me out
Great Job Steve M., Pamalala & John (Squirt)
I have to say that you guys really did an admirable job in putting the whole thing together. You put in an extraordinary effort, thank-you! Everybody I talked to or overheard talking had a blast. This was definitly the premier event of MOTD. BTW, I was the guy selling the 50-50 tickets. Thanks to all of you that bought in and were so nice. If you hadn't heard, the winner took home $248!
I also really enjoyed the Beer Swap too. Next year I'll leave the Japanese beer home and just bring the Lancaster Brewing Co. Milk Stout instead. I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly that went. But now I have a beautiful 2 case assortment as souveniers of my first MOTD. I'll think of you all each time I enjoy one. It was great to meet you all.

I cannot tell you how thrilled we are that you all had such a great time! Hearing all this positive feedback makes every hour of planning so worth it. Standing back and looking at a room full of all of you having so much fun was an amazing sight - I couldn't stop smiling!!
(Hee, hee, I still can't!)
We have so many plans for this event and we are all soooo happy that it was so well received. What a wonderful experience. Plans for next year are already in the works.
I am going to post more tomorrow - I MUST get some more sleep. Thank you all so, so much for taking time to post already! We love hearing what you have to say.

I thought it was priceless when CustomAV won the big brake kit with his Orange tickets and he'd purchased $200 of blue tickets. :-)
Kudos to Pamalalala and her team - I definitely had a good time!

Granted, once CustomAV got to the table things became even more hilarious...but Pamalalala DID say that the dealers would help us when we needed it.
Table 1! Table 1! Table 1! Table 1!
Why, "Snake Eyes", of course...or "Dragon Eyes", if you prefer.
Actually that was Table 3 I believe. Well, if you go counter clockwise from the frontmost table, it was table 3. Short black lady was dealing I believe.
