Who else is flying to attend the Dragon?
I doubt my wife and I will be the only people who aren't driving to the Dragon directly. We'll be flying into Atlanta from Phoenix. We have secured a MINI rental. And if anyone else would like to do the same I can point you in the right direction.

Sweet Thrashing a rental on the dragon. . . . I do hope you plan to enter the burn out contest!
I'm so thankful to have found a MINI to drive that I'll treat it with respect. Besides, it's not an S. |
theres a burnout contest?
|
He was kidding. I think.

Tell me more about this rental you've got. For the past two years, I've flown in and driven the worst American counterfeit MINIs---I wouldn't mind having a rental MINI. How far is Atlanta from the Smokey Mountains?

According to my mapping software it looks like it's around 177 miles from Atlanta to Fontana Village...so just a hop, skip, & a jump

Thanks BaMatt for looking that up
PassatToDo Thanks for the PM. I'm still not sure how far the rental place is from the airport, as it is, its about an hour drive to the airport in Tennessee. Driving the Dragon in a Chevy Cobalt is not fun, especially at 6am when its dark, and worse when its foggy like last year. I will have to think about it. Thanks much.

It was a no brainer for me as I'd rather be in a MINI with a 4 hour drive than in a Cobalt like vehicle for an hour and a half. |
Oops sorry. Bad memory while travelling on the go. Working off a handheld wireless, can't copy and paste names from threads.

If you don't rent the MINI, I'm sure I can live without my MCS for a bit while you take a run down the Dragon... It's my first time in the area, so I am planning on spending some of the time hiking around the Fontana area (I'm camping at the Fontana campground.) A borrowed MINI has GOT to be more fun than a Cobalt! I'm planning on being in town Thusday night until sometime on Sunday. Weather permitting, I'm sure I can do without the car for a few hours... Let me know... -Ed |
Ed, I'm down for some hiking Friday between breakfast and lunch. Lemme know if you wanna head out together.

Me, well I better lose a few pounds before May or I may need a few people to drag my arse back down the mountain... |
The drive from Atlanta to the Dragon isnt that bad, i did it in September. took about 2 - 2.5 hours depending on how you drive and which route you take.
|
I would love to know what route you are taking that gets you there in 2.5 hours.
|
I would have no problems telling you if I remembered. I was with someone who was local to the area and she just kept pointing and saying, turn here.
