That just irks the crapola outa me. My dog is perfectly poddy trained & well behaved. I brought him this year & I guarantee they would never have known he had been there. I understand some peoples pets tear things up but I think they should require a refundable deposit not a fee (much less $150). I mean that is about equal to a whole nights lodging. Ridiculous

I think that considering they're in the midst of remodeling and are installing beautiful new furniture, we are very fortunate to be able to have pets with us! And they are not allowed in the Lodge...only in the cabins.

Sleeping in a tent or in MIB is sounding much more friendly to my pocketbok

Many many hotels are pet friendly. I understand being responsible for 100% of the damages caused by your pet but paying a whole nites lodging for them to accompany you is way out of line IMHO.

I also just checked their new rates & they have eliminated the MID season rates so they now consider PEAK season to begin April 1st . I would say they are taking advantage of MOTD. The cabin I stayed in (3BR Azalea) has had a rate increase of over 50% due to this. I would like to know what the MOTD discount will be

Remember, Fontana extends the MINI Cooper group a very generous discount. As has been posted, when you reserve your lodging, a deposit is charged for the full, undiscounted price for one day.

At check-out time, you are given the discount for each night. The discounts have been substantial!

And remember, Fontana doesn't charge us for any of the conference/meeting rooms that we use for our events! No charge for using the Dam Room! No charge for the tables and chairs! Their pricing really is affordable and they have been very kind and generous to us.

I left my reservation info on Saturday night before the dinner, but got no confirmation. I was more than a little nervous when I called back tonight.

The good news is that after two years in Dogwoods, is that I will have a one bedroom Willow next year. It is $95.20 per night, after apparently running $79 this year.

The bad news is that they told me that they had nothing but Dogwoods left. I've gotta think this is going to change, however.

Are these rates too high? They are higher than the last two years, but I'd be willing to pay still more for a good unit. Fontana knows that, and knows it will sell out at almost any price. They are doing what good capitalists do when demand exceeds supply.

If that's the case, then they should charge extra for those with kids, too. My dog is better behaved, quieter and won't draw on the wall with crayons--I promise!

Fontana must have had a horrible situation with someone's poorly trained pet in the past. The only hotel-chain I've encounted that charges a comparable rate for dogs is the Ritz ($50 a day at some locations, nothing at others) and other high-end hotels (Four Seasons, Loews) charge nothing.

Complaining aside, I'll fork over the $150 'cuz the dog digs the Dragon!

Remember, people make reservations and then often have to back out, so it is a very fluid situation. As they sell out the lodging, sometimes they open up time-share units. Don't be dissuaded from contacting them.

Again, the rates you are quoted and for which the one night deposit is made, do not reflect the MINI Cooper discount! Make sure you mention that you are with the MINI Cooper club when you book your reservation and you will get a substantial discount at check-out.

Glad I saw this thread!

I was planning on making reservations later this year but I am glad I didn't. Just called and was told what was left as of today (5-17-2006):

Dogwood cabins
"older log cabins" - not sure what she exactly meant by this
Time Share cabins are available
Lodge Rooms
3 Poolside Cabana Rooms (well now 2 since I reserved one)
Campground spots

Everything else is already booked out. These people must realllllly love us. But as mentioned before people do cancel as time goes on so waiting lists are worth being put on .

FWIIW here is what I was quoted for a poolside cabana room: $111.20/night (listed as $139 on website for peak season)

They didn't offer me a MOTD discount. In fact they tried to charge me $10 per night more than I was quoted.

Even @ the $239 peak rate(w/o discount), it works out to $120/person for our 3bed Azalea.. its definitely more than before but still pretty darn reasonable.

They have Lodge rooms Dogwoods and some timeshares left. I snaged a Dogwood because I like to cook my own breakfast

$79.20 a night
