Hey, how do I find out which cabin I've been assigned and where it is? Or does that not happen until I check in? How do some of you know already?

Hey guys - bad news, I've had to pull out of the Dragon for next year. I've decided to go back to school full time and just can't afford to take two weeks off of school when the stakes are so high now (I have to get stellar grades for the next couple of years).

Call them and ask them, they'll tell you

Well, they told me that none are assigned until you get there, but that you can request certain cabins. I don't know what number the dogwood cabins are that are closest to OTB/MKO, so I just requested that I be put as close as possible.

Anyone happen to have a map of which number cabins are located where?

Thanks, I've seen that one, but I was wondering if anyone had a map showing the numbers of individual cabins. Like something they might give you when you check in, to help you find your cabin. I do a lot of camping at state parks, and I'm sort of a dork about wanting to pick out what looks like the best spot, even if it's just from a map.

I assume this doesn't exist, but I just thought I'd ask...

I was told the same thing. On our way out of town last year we rebooked the same cabin because we LOVED the location. At the time, they put us down for the same cabin number. We called last week to confirm and were told that we can request a location, but they can't promise it to us.

Made my reservations today, and cancelled my reservation @ the other place. Decision was swayed by an officer in my club, and my wife agreeing that the point of the Dragon was the people, and it would make sense to be in the middle of it instead of at a remote B&B.

I don't get gurlz sometimes.

BTW, I took the last heated 2BR cabin, and the lady on the phone said all they have left are a couple standard inn rooms, one fireplace room, and unheated 2BR cabins.

Okay... after three years of having not being able to make it I have decided 2006 is my personal year of the dragon. So I've reported on this event many times for MotoringFile but the truth is I don't really know much about the logistics. Where do I start with information? I want to stay where the crowd is.... I'm assuming that's Fontana village. i'm going to try to get a few people from Chicago to come down so I assume I want a cabin. Is it true that all they have left are unheated cabins at this point?

Do the cabins have bathrooms etc? I mean how rustic are we talking here? I'd like to post some of the answers on MotoringFile so any help you can give me would be appreciated!

Hey, Gabe! The unheated cabins are fine...just old. You do want to stay at Fontana Village, which is usually the center of MINI activities. Tapoco Lodge is lovely, but booked. If there are no cabins/rooms left at Fontana, you can book at the Microtel in Robbinsville, a nice, corporate hotel.

www.fontanavillage.com

Wherever you book, be sure to ask for the MINI Cooper Club discount. If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me.

With any luck the MINI will be Dragin a teardrop camper to the Dragon.

Hey Gabe this will be my first year as well. So meet you there and keep up the great work on MF and WWR you guys rock.

I need to call them tomorrow and see what they have left.

Trying to help some people find space.... I have heard they have Dogwoods and Inn rooms. How are the Inn rooms and do you guys know they price for these two with the discount?

The Inn rooms are essentially standard hotel rooms, and are pretty much laid out as such...

The cabins on the other hand also have full kitchens with a dining room/living room area as well.

Jenn, go to their site, www.fontanavillage, and you can view photos of the cabins and rooms. Like Michael mentioned, the cabins have fully-equipped kitchens and dining areas, too. You don't get daily housekeeping services, but you can get additional towels from a designated area.

Only thing left is rooms in the inn.

That's what we had to go with. Made my reservations tonight.

Got ours for $62 a night.

If you didn't get a reservation - sign up for the wait list - I did last year in the middle of April and got a two bedroom cabin.

Thanks for the info. I really would rather now stay at the Inn if it's away from all the action but that sounds like my only choice at this point.

Gabe, the Inn is not away from the action. Fontana is a rather large campus. You are always close enough to the action, yet it is a very pleasant environment.
