Another option that may appeal to some are these cabins: http://www.cabinstorent.com/ just outside of Robbinsville (like 6-8 minutes from "downtown", much closer than Fontana). I stayed at the Cliffside Cottage last year and I really enjoyed it, very private. I never even saw the management, not once. I was able to wash the car and use dial-up internet from AT&Ts 800 number. It's a little more expensive I think than Fontana (maybe).

I'm staying at Fonatana this year to see what that's like .

I made my reservation at Fontana a month ago and they only had rooms in the hotels left. Is this true still?

I talked to them on Monday and they did have cabins left. The complete details are in the ANNOUNCEMENT above the threads in this Forum. Now, if you were looking for a 1 bedroom and not willing to consider a 2 bedroom, that might be why they told you that there were Inn rooms left. If you would rather a cabin, I'd call them back and talk about a Dogwood cabin or a Hemlock cabin. I hear both are new and nice.

kool: I have no idea how your tall body can sleep in the MINI and you not be a mess the next day. More power to you. However, if you bring a date, does that mean that your "fling" with the young lady at Sweetwater BBQ is over? You know, "an opportunity like this doesn't come along everyday."

teehee.

Hugs,
PB

The information I read here only a few days ago is that Fontana was holding back some cabins and rooms, but has now released them for our use.

I'll dig up the link and post it when I can figure what thread it was in.

Sticker How's the parking there? Is there a central lot or park where you sleep?

Here is what it looked like in the afternoon at the party cabin:

Each cabin has a drive and we can park two wide and about three deep... or in the bushes, or behind the cabin, or anywhere else you can find parking . you will be safe. the only people in town are the few that live there (and they will not do anything to you as you bring them all the money they make), and mini people!! it's a blast. i can not wait.

Ok, Parking is more than plentiful. You park in front or alongside your cabin (or in front of the Inn). The Sticker that is being mentioned is that "someone" tagged some cars last year with the super cool "Actual Size" tags. No one's MINI is in danger. In fact, there is a ZERO crime rate on Fontana. One of the guys I talk to, leaves his cell, his camera, and a few other things in his unlocked car all the time -- no problems. Frankly, locking your doors is optional ---

But Sndwave, might mention the AOL disk fairy that stops by on occasions

Hugs,
PB

What the heck???

They do have cabins left. Am I missing something? If you want a cabin, book a cabin.

The parking at the Inn (more of an inn than a hotel) is basically in front of your room.

PB

I think he wants a 1 bedroom, of which there are no 1 bed cabins left...

Something you should know, since you get the updates from the Fontana...

The parking at the lodge is cool. If you have a room on the lot side you have a balcony with chairs that over looks it and all the MINIs, if your on the inside the door opens to the pool.

Fontana is a great place and you'll find with all the things going on you won't be at the room much.

Oh and did any one mention that the road between Fontana is super fast compaired to the Dragon and just as twisty in many places. It's posted at 50/55 MPH and if you can drive it that fast on average you'll never wipe the grin off your face when you pull in to The Crossroads of Time.

I'm guess what I mean when I don't understand is that for VERY little to the same amount (or even less) of money for the Willows, the Hemlocks are supposed to be close to the Willows and VERY nice; and I've been told the Dogwoods are cool. Bascially, if you don't need the second bedroom -- you don't need to go in it. Or find yourself a friend, share a cabin and split the price.

See my point?

PB

The only crimes comitted in the area are speeding, driveby lazertag shootings, and sign vandalism/rewording.

The most dangerous things in the area are the curves and the spiders.
