What does "DME" stand for? I have an 07 MCS and what was the first sw version that was there before they robbed us from our power?

Ok so how would u know if your "DME" was updated or not? Everytime I take my car to the dealer and picked it up and have to sign for papers it says nothing bout the ECU....does that mean nothing was changed? Or would I have to go through my car and search for it like the sw # (mine is 73.51.00 btw)

u can always ask them for a service history...

or if u ever have any issues related to windows, or radio then tend to do updates for that as well

I think when the dealer flashes or updates the firmware it fixes things also.
I remember hearing about window dipper probs. that a software fix cured.

I will have to check my 07 when I am in the car after work. According to my service history, I've never had any reprogramming done, but we will see.

So I'm taking my car in to get a couple piddly things taken care of. Do I want to tell them to not re-flash my ECU?

The only difference I noticed after the update ( besides fixing my window dipper problem) was that the "Sport" mode steering seems a little "stiffer" (less power assist?).

I have seen other threads where the max turbo boost might be lowered after the update, but I haven't felt any change. I have no quantitative comparison of boost before/after to back that up yet.

Side note : I did lose my locking and turn signal settings and have been too lazy to reprogram them yet.

Dave

Interesting....

MY:2009 Cooper JCW
has dealer updated ur DME since u got it? YES
current SW ver: A8.40.00
current boost level(if you know/applicable):fast

I had my JCW in for the window issue and timing chain repair in March of 2011, Niello MINI in Sacramento said there was a ECU update available that would fix the windows, so I approved. Oddly, I think my car felt better after this change, it's very quick, and has exhaust pops and rumbles too. I'm curious how the same software version runs the justa-coopers as well, but I guess that's a programming mystery.
