Only if you actually put it in as an oil additive.

Just did it tonight. Little smoke...kinda disappointed in that but the throttle is much better. Noticed mush smoother acceleration through from 700rpm all the way up.
what causes little smoke? the most i saw was prior to turning off the engine after putting it in.

Try it again the results my surprise you. The first time I did it, not a lot of smoke. The second time there was a ton of smoke.

In the UK we have a product called 10k Boost which is sprayed into the throttle body inlet on my old injection car. Would I be correct in this going in the turbo inlet on my MCS or would it be better into the PCV?

The left side PCV, NOT the turbo!

The product I have is actually ecotek powerboost and not 10k boost but they are similar.

Instructions as per can (and website shown here) state to spray directly into the turbo:

http://www.ecotekplc.com/powerboosthelp.htm

Is the PCV method still going in the same place bypassing the turbo. I guess to work it needs to be sucked in by the engine hence via the throttle body on my old petrol injection model car. Turbo is sucking in air so that seems logical. Is the PCV a similar air entry into the engine?

The purpose of all these powerful organic solvents is to remove carbon build up in the combustion chamber and the outside of the intake valves, not the turbo and IC where there is none. In addition, I don't care for that stuff being in long term contact with all the plastic fittings in the intake run. Stick with the left side PCV tube for application point!

BG44K is "suppose" to be better. Maybe thats why they charge 2.5x the price of Seafoam.....

Heres an interesting FIY from BG44K...http://www.bgfindashop.com/carkillers/popup.php?num=1

All this talk of spark plug changes makes me long for an informative picture filled DIY,hint hint. I think I'll do the Seafoam treatment tonight when I get home. I'm also scheduled to get my timing chain tensioner replaced tomorrow because of the awful cold start noise and rough idling. So I can't see this doing anything but helping.

I only got 1 modest puff of smoke when I punched it on the on ramp. I probably used 1/4 of the can cause I didn't want to over do it. When I got home I used about 1/2 of what was left, I think cause I got the spray bottle. I'm not in the mood to go back out tonight, so it will soak overnight, so we will see.

Look at this link for some graphics...

With your engine cold, remove the connector on the coil (one per plug).
Remove the coil-on-plug assy.
Remove the spark plug.
check gaps on the new plugs (I don't know what is spec for the 2nd gen cars...) if they are "gappable"
Replace the spark plug (I use a bit of moly high temp anti sieze on the threads).
Replace the coil assy.
Replace the connector.

Have fun and drive!

Matt

TV was terrible last night so I sat down and read EVERY post in this thread and this evening I went out to Wal-Mart and bought 2 cans of Seafoam. Now I think after reading EVERY post, I can safely say that my 2004 MC is just a little unique as I didn't see anyone post that they had 72000 miles on their odometer and had NEVER done a Seafoam cleaning.

Let me finish this little story by saying everything went exactly as it has been posted here in this thread. The only difference is that they will not be spraying for mosquitoes in New Jersey for the remainder of this year....and yes, I will be doing it again 2 more times before the weekend is gone...well and as long as the EPA doesn't come by and stop me!

The Seafoam cleaning definitely had a positive effect on engine performance. The car runs much smoother now and there was no hesitation or bucking when I first started the engine this morning. This had become a normal experience in the morning and would continue until I had driven a few miles...now its smooth from the get-go.
As for extra pull...that is a little hard to tell at this point. I usually need to be the first car at the light in order to determine that and that wasn't the case on my trip in to work this morning. I was stuck in the flow and really couldn't mash the pedal. But I'm sure my time will come and I'll be first off the line real soon.
Hmmmm....where did all those dead mosquitoes come from!!!!

Another thing to do...

is pull the injectors for a cleaning... I use Witchhunter (www.witchhunter.com) but there are lots of places that do the same thing. Better atomization will help for sure, and the improved flow matching that comes from the work helps too.

Matt

note: This is OT in that they only do port injectors, not the DI injectors of the 2nd gen turbo...

Solution: Start the process an hour before sundown. When it just get's dark, start her up and off you go. No-one sees a thing.

Hi Everyone,
I just finished installing my BSH OCC and the Direct Dual Boost Tap. I am not using the taps so I'm going to plug them with the 1/4" plugs.
BSH supplies two 1/4" adapters, one straight and one that is 90 degree, that I can push on plastic tubing. I was thinking that I could put one of the adapters in temporarily. Hook the tubing to the adapter and feed the Seafoam to the PCV through there. Take the adapter out and put the plug in when I'm finished.
My concern is that I have to be very careful to avoid feeding the Seafoam too fast and damaging the motor.
What do you think?
Good or bad idea?

I seafoamed for the first time today. I followed the original video instructions on my S. I was surprised how quickly it sucked up 1/3 of the can. I thought maybe it sucked it too quickly. But, I let it sit for 30 min and sure enough it smoked like crazy upon start-up. Took a minute or two of revving to get everything running nice and smooth. Took it for a drive and everything seems smoother. I plan to do another treatment tomorrow, I'm hoping I can get it into the PCV system a little smoother
