Congratulations!
Ideally you read this thread and checked everything below before your purchase.
The most important maintenance items are all engine related. First figure out what engine you have: Non-turbo models are N12 or N16, "S" turbo models are N14 or N16, depending on model year. See here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...4-n16-n18.html
1) f you bought an "S" or JCW with the N14 engine, see the FAQ thread on N14 maintenance here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...nce-items.html and determine if appropriate maintenance has been done before you purchased the car.
2) "S" or JCW models with the N18 engine information here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...on-issues.html
3) Look up the recalls and TSBs here: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls. Enter "2011 Mini" for example and it will bring up a list of all information for that year's models. TSBs are under the Manufacturer Communications heading. Check the service records to see if the work has been done, if you don't have the records then a dealer can run the VIN for you.
Follow-up topics:
N12/N16 maintenance items
Non-engine related maintenance items common to all models
