Would you buy a 2017 Countryman with a replaced transmission?

This would be my first MINI if I end up going between these two vehicles so any insight would be much appreciated.

Both are 2017s All4 S models, similar mileage, both manuals, one though has what seems to me a big concern but maybe I'm wrong.

This one is really the decider for me. It has the tech and nav packages (which from my understanding makes it not too difficult to get CarPlay if you have Nav) and compared to my other choice is pretty loaded. The big concern though is that it already had it's transmission replaced with a used/refurbished transmission. This MINI was bought from auction (clean title) and I guess upon their inspection noticed something wrong with the clutch. On further inspection they came to the conclusion that it was an issue with the transmission and decided to replace the transmission with a similar mileage one. Price and package wise makes me want to strongly consider this one though.

The two main benefits of this one is the color (Silver instead of black) and obviously lack of major work done to it. It also has the convenience package which is nice. Price after taxes and fees comes out to a bit more than I was looking to spend and the lack of Nav is a bit dissapointing (once again this is with the idea that the nav package allows you to get Carplay relatively easily from aftermarket resources).

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this situation.

From what I understand, there is no such thing as a "new transmission". All of them are rebuilt/refurbished, even from the factory. I'd go with the car that the better options.

Ah good to know, makes the choice a bit simpler. How is the reliability on this gen of MINIs? It seems in other places any time a MINI gets brought up it's pretty doom and gloom.

F60 is suppose to be pretty good compared to previous models. I have a 2018 and I'm pretty happy with it. I would take the car you want to a reputable shop and ask them to do a pre-purchase inspection before you decide.

If it were me, I would try to get the deal on the one WITHOUT the transmission replacement.

I would concur if it were an automatic transmission

I would want to know who did the work, and what else was (or wasn't) done at the same time. The transmission could be OK, but if they botched something during the service, the car could end up being a nightmare. Also, did the clutch ultimately get replaced? What was the cause of the issue to begin with? Too many unknowns.

I plan to get more info once I get a chance to test drive it. As far as I was told was that they inspected the car, felt there was an issue with the clutch and when beginning process to remove to access the clutch realized it was a transmission issue and decided to replace it. From what I know at this moment, the clutch ultimately didn't need to be replaced but the transmission did.
