Hi, looking at some input on retrofitting front sensors to our 2017 Countryman (ours has the optic pack), I feel it COULD be done but would like to know other peoples thoughts or if they've tried it?
Parts I've come across
51117478633 outer edge trim with the hole for the sensor left
51117478634 outer edge trim with the hole for the sensor right
51117390511 centre grill with sensor holes
66209283203 4 x sensor holder
66209274428 4 x sensors
66337938196 1 x PDC control box (unsure if needed as already have rear parking sensors)
61316838211 1 x center console switch set
61126819592 1 x cable to connect front parking sensors ?
Can anyone else think of anything? other than the parts that needed to be coded.
I am very interested in this if you figure it out. I don't understand not putting the front sensors on the car if it already has the rear sensors. They should have been standard in the first place.
I don't believe you'd need a new PDC control module unless you decided to retrofit the Parking Assistant as well, that' the only one that has a different part number.
Hi all, just waiting on 1 more part to source (right-hand side bumper trim) then I will be good to go But does anyone have any guides or step by step process on how to remove the front bumper safely?
Front bumper removed I thought this was going to be quite stressful but it was really easy:-
Now I was looking for the connector on the car harness that connects to the front PDC harness that ive brought but alas I could not locate it, I checked both sides to no avail I did find this cable in the main harness behind the screen wash bottle under the left headlight and it looks like its cut then sealed? is this the connector?
Does anyone know if this can be resolved? or is this little adventure dead in the water? I can almost smell the beeps!!!
After speaking to a few people I was told I needed to also order another cable which was part of a retrofit kit part number 66202338070.
Today I made the attempt of getting most of this retrofit done but the weather had other plans :( I managed to get all the trim pieces fixed / sensors fitted / sensors harness + the cable which needs feeding back to the PMA module.
All I have left to do is connect connectors from the cable to the PMA harness connector / fit the new switch cluster and then code it to the car... I will be tackling this another day
Front end complete The cable that needs feeding though the firewall to the PMA in the boot Sensors/trim/harness fitted Old V New Old V New 2
Quick update: Sensors fitted along with the cable to plug into the PDC + New switch cluster - Coded 508 to the car (originally was 507) but now I can hear the front sensors when an object is there but nothing is appearing on the PDC screen only the rear sensors are showing? also is the toggle switch supposed to disable both front and rear or just the front? Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, Did you get through with your project?. I do not have front parking sensors but bought a "used start stop dash module switch with the Park sensor switch" on eBay.When i reverse my car, the switch lights up but no other feature is activated since i have no other hardware installed on the front bumper!.I am not sure if i have the connector that plugs into the Front PDC loom next to the "washer fluid bottle". What must be the connections to make?. Can U explain?. I have rear parking sensors and rear camera & rear distance control OEM. How does the front PDC loom communicate with the rear PDC module?.

Hi, GoodDay. Can U detail the connections that you made with the cable between the Front PDA harness & the PDC module at the rear, regarding part# 66202338070. Where do the pins exactly plug into?.Is there a Pin modification necessary at the PDC toggle switch as well?. My rear PDC module has 2 slots> wherein one of the slots has pins that is engaged to a harness that connects from the rear PDC.The other slot is totally empty with no pins populated on it!.I am enclosing the image of my rear PDC. Can U please help & advice?.Thanks.
Is it possible/feasible to install the park assist holders by drilling into our existing bumper trim, rather than buying the new bumper trim part?.
Is the oem bumper part with park sensor holders 2 units (or) a single unified piece?. I am asking becoz i see another part # 51117478630 that is a single part with sensor holes on both sides. Can U clarify?. Thanks.
Hi, I was finally successful in the retrofit project concerning the front parking sensors for my 2018 MINI Cooper Countryman which has OEM rear PDC module.
The parts I used were: #1 Front PDC cable 61128715573. #2 Front PDC Sensors 66209274428*4 nos with their O-Rings. #3 Front Bumper Lower Part with 2 PDC holders 51117478630. (It is possible to make space/cut on your existing bumper to accommodate the 2 outer PDC holders becoz the markings are there to do such. But the correct PDC holder would still be difficult to install since BMW has stopped manufacture of that particular angled PDC holder). (*51117395504(Right) & 51117395503(Left) are the PDC holders for the Front PDC lower bumper. These parts are discontinued and hard to get.The option would be to buy the whole lower bumper with the sensor holes (or) drill holes into your existing bumper at the place where it is marked for them and install new holders and glue with 3m of the holders. If you drill holes on your own, the chances are that the fitment/alignment may not be exact.Check images to see how the front outer PDC are angled). #4 Repair Cable from Front to Rear 66202338070. #5Connector Pins suitable for the rear PDC/PMA module which has 18 pins. #6 KAI New Standard Replacement Front Center Lower Bumper Cover Grille/Walmart Part# MC1036108. #7 An Optional Park Assist Toggle switch module/Part#61316838211.
The 6 wires from the front PDC harness travel via the repair cable towards the rear PDC module where they need to be soldered to their suitable pins to plug into the rear PDC module. (If U explore, you should be able to find a way for the repair cable to travel between the engine bay>>car floor>>hide under door sills upholstery>>travel via door pillars towards the rear trunk space.) Enclosed is also an image of the connections one would have to make.
The 6 wires represent a power cable for the front PDC sensors; a ground cable for the front PDC sensors & the 4 Signal wires from the 4 front sensors. Once all the hardware is OEM & functional & installed well, it is time get the thing coded. *If your F60 has OEM Rear PDC feature, you need not buy a separate PDC module. The existing PDC module located under the flap on the right trunk pillar space is enough to take the incoming 6 wires from the front PDC. *The guidance I have sought for this project is from similar project executed on an F30 BMW by others. The part numbers some of them, between the F30 & F60 will obviously be different while some cables will be the same. *Remember to use genuine BMW OEM parts for this project to work.If your car has a JCW aero kit or other fancy stuff to its front bumper, i believe the bumper parts that you need to buy may be different.
@@@ To install the “Park Assist Feature” we need to install 2 separate Park assist OEM sensors on the wheel arch + connect the power & ground from those 2 sensors to the PDC harness. The signal wires from both the Park assist sensors will then also need to travel connect into the module in the rear. The signal wire from the front right PMA sensor plugs into Pole#2 and the signal wire from the front left PMA sensor plugs into Pole#13 as you can see in the enclosed image of the connections to be made. You will need to buy the set of Park Assist Holder clips 5Q0919275BG2X on ?eBay and drill hole into the marked space on the front wheel arch. The holders then need to glue into the place from inside using 3M tape & a few drops of crazy glue. The front wheel arches also sell original with the Park aid sensor holders (built in) & fancy side repeaters. The respective part numbers are 51777475351(Front Left) & 51777475352(Front Right). These Part numbers are US and they will have/come with the Turn Signal repeater bulbs installed on the arches. The Non-US parts/wheel arches will NOT have the signal repeaters and will come only with the Park Assist holder on them!.The Turn signal indicators on the Wheel arch is a legal requirement for all vehicles in the USA. The Parking Aid sensor is part#66209274429 and different in part number from the front PDC sensor. The pig tail that need to go into the PMA sensor is different from the one that goes into the front PDC sensor. However if u only have the PDC sensor pigtails to use, you can modify them to suit the PMA sensor male to plug into. Please check image of the PDC holder vs the PMA holder. If you choose to have the Park assist feature, you will also need to swap your existing PDC module with the one that is having the PMA feature. The PMA Park assist module part #=AT27wobVqXtbk8zTQXKFjxnuYUeuYfRKVxEJrsw3zVBANMbME CSl6y6-u1vsUL8rqrIOnSB8lyTL_5XIaG9cSdLv3QTdBZSb0i0qVY-LlSH9bCFodSXOfcC8Q1MH5Hrk_y8F4Vy7_4TAPzf49zp4aua_n KSPuXBEYJs]66339483099. Additionally the Park assist feature also requires that you change your existing ABS sensor with the ones that have the Park assist feature on them. The ABS sensor with Park Assist feature for F60 (to retrofit) is Bosch part# 34526850767(Front Wheels) & 34526850764(Rear Wheels). The toggle switch part# Part#61316838211 is compulsory with this Park assist project. We will also additionally need to code the Park assist feature. I have not implemented the Park Assist feature yet on my MINI and that would be a long term project, God willing. @@@@
For best outcomes, avoid cutting cables, avoid using non bmw sensors (or) 3rd party sensors becoz the high chances are that it will not work. If you are not implementing the PMA project, you can ignore all the images and info concerning the PMA project and only focus on the simpler front PDC project.
Hope this info helps someone.

Do you have a guide as to how to remover the bumper? Thanks
The lower lip of the bumper is held by around 10 screws that hold it in place in the bottom. Once these screws are removed the lower lip which holds the outer 2 sensors will be out. You need to swap this lower lip of the bumper with a "special lower lip piece" that has the outer PDC holders. The bottom centre grill that holds the 2 centre PDC sensors can be accessed from the above or via the trim from the Fog lights. The most comfortable way will be to remove the front bumper as a whole from the top of the engine bay. You should have diagrams online about this process.

The whole idea posting my query was because I can't find online how to remove the bumper?

Hiya, This is REALLY helpful, as I am just about to install front PDC on my 2018 Countryman.
Can I just double-check that the front PDC loom (61128715573) was OK? Looking at various websites, they seem to suggest this is not the correct loom and is for the other 'F' models, which I guess are slightly narrower.
I have bought one of these as I saw on with the sensors going cheap, I just wanna double-check before I get my bumper off!

found 51117395503 and 51117395504 at ECS. Can you confirm the places for them are marked inside the lower bumper parts?
