I set my iPhone up with a shortcut so that when I start the car and it connects to CarPlay a message plays that’s says “welcome to your countryman James”.
Do you find yourself using the HUD less and/or not at all with the digital instrument display installed? Also, how is it when bright sunlight hits the cluster, are you still able to clearly read the panel?
No issues with the sunlight visibility on the display - it has a type of matte finish on it that definitely makes a difference.
The HUD is still strictly used for longer distance road trips; I stopped using it in daily driving months ago. Haven't been able to take a road trip lately (thanks COVID), but that will likely stay the same for me once we're all able to hit the road again.
This is what I have done to my 2019 Countryman:
Retro Fitted 8.8" Touch
Screen from 6.5" Touch screen
Gloss Black Roof Wrap
De-chromed
Gloss Black Headlight & Taillight Trim
Gloss Black Door handles
Gloss Black Mirror Caps (used to be Grey)
H&R Lowering Springs
18X8 Platinum Retributions Wheels
You can get really good pricing on the JCW Tune/Exhaust if you can find them in stock. Dealers are still allowed to install them on US spec vehicles.
Are you doing the wiring for the hitch as well or just doing it for a bike rack?
I did the tow and hitch kit (includes wiring). The wiring was pretty straightforward and the directions they provide are gold. I used a splitter on a 12V line that I ran previously for my powered sub. The splitter is tied down next to the amp, behind the hatch side panel. That way I didn't have to route the tow 12v cable to the battery - that would've been a pain. Total install time was a hair under 4 hours, and that was taking my sweet time.
I purchased an ECU tune from Turner Motorsports. I'm going to hold off installing it until I add the NM exhaust and Dinan intake I want to do. I really wanted to go the Mario Palza route for my tune, but I'm currently in Europe and shipping my ECU Transatlantic through USPS was too high risk for my taste. They are just not good right now. Turner offers a remote flash that's in the performance ballpark of others available...at least we'll see.
If I may offer a bit of advice: I had a difficult time getting the Downpipe clamp to grab both the downpipe and the shoulder of the first NM pipe at the same time. I found that shoving the rear end of the first NM pipe up in the tunnel as far as I could, then tightening that Downpipe clamp worked well. THEN, there is enough flex in the downpipe that I could drop the end of the first section of NM pipe, then make the connection between the first and second sections of the NM pipes. I really like the sound. In the future, if you wanted to quieten it down, you can re-use your first section of pipe with the secondary cat and stock resonator...just cut it to length to match up with the length of the first section of the NM pipe. (might have to use a different joining clamp...I don't think the OEM and NM pipes are exactly the same diameter.
That's pure gold - thank you! I did read up on your thread about it from a while back. I didn't reach out to Jerry at NM yet to see if they ship that brace as standard now. It hasn't shipped yet, so I'll reach out today to ask about it. I ordered all the parts through ECS Tuning because they offered a military discount.
I'm looking forward to the improved sound. Just hoping it isn't invasive/droning during highway cruise.

So did you end up doing any coding for the install? I'm mainly worried about the parking sensors going off without the Mini wiring kit when the bike rack is attached. I've tried to get a couple dealers to install the Euro hitch but haven't found anyone that would do it since it's a US spec vehicle.

Yeah, that's why I just did everything through the dealer, Bavarian installed the exhaust and tune for me before delivery and after VAT was taken off it was under 2k.
No coding for the install, but you do have to code the hatch kick sensor off before using it. You’ll see in the photo below, it looks no different than stock when you don’t have the tow or hitch connections attached. But when you do hook them up, you need to turn it off. I use Bimmercode to switch the two options to night_aktiv. It’s in the BDC module.
Without adapters attached. Turn these off before attaching hitch/tow components.
Just some Minor Mini Mods. Getting a few Union Jacks in place. I also got Bimmercode and turned off Auto Start/Stop and made my mirrors to fold upon the car being locked. I'm just starting with that app so I'll probably make some more changes as I learn more about it.
