just met my new car!

stopped by the dealer and got to go back to the (closed and semi-dark) maintenance shop. It is up on a lift with the auxilliary lamps loosely mounted on the front. got to take a good look at the underside.

Pick up tomorrow at 2, already cleaned everything out of my car and bought a 3.5mm patch cable for my ipod to go into the auxilliary input. ($6 at radio shack, btw. don't buy anything branded or marked specifically for an IPOD, it costs twice as much!)

Can you believe it.......... What to do....

All,

I went to the dealer today to pick up my mini........ It was beautiful, they had it in the show room all clean and shining. We went thru all the features and functions, I had my Ipod hooked up and playing. We sinc'ed my phone, the whole nine yards. I actually drove it off the lot and found I couldn't put up the windows!!!!. I circled back to the dealer, they pulled it into the shop and start working on it. Well they also found the AC fuse blown, but couldn't find out what was wrong with the windows. (they go up and down with the key) They sent me home with a loaner (I live some distance from the dealer). Anyway to make a long wait in the dealership short they offered to reorder my mini or fix it, deliver it to my home and throw in an accessory of my choice. oh what to do... so close and yet so far.

I don't want this to discourage others. ... Its just a bummer. Time to look thru the accessories perhaps...

I was supposed to pick my MINI up tomorrow, but my Dealer has decided to stick it to me on my trade. They are offering $2,000 less than Edmunds/Kelly trade-in value (for a Prius, no less).

I told them I would be postponing delivery until I sell it myself, unless they want to give me the fair trade-in value. Fair, not the highest trade-in value, but fair.

BTW, in the past two weeks, the Edmunds trade-in value for my car has gone UP $500.

JanetMC, if I didn't know that we are on opposite coasts, I would guess that we had the same dealer....

Why do dealers ruin the buying experience for so many people?!?

OK, heres what happened today on my way to work this morning...This is a true story.

About 8:30 am as I drove across the bridge, looked toward Charleston and saw a WW ship and big grey K line ship docked side by side downtown. I was running late but said what the heck, I gotta try...I took an exit toward the piers and drove down random side streets and kept running into deadends or guarded truck entrances.

Just when I was going to bail, I drove by a screened chain link fence and saw a sh*t load of BMW's of every model imaginable with the Southern Highway in the background. Slowly driving I strained to see through the shaded fence and then I saw them...a rainbow of beautiful MINI's all grouped together off to the side by themselves. I pulled out my Blackberry to try to take a photo and a state port authority vehicle pulled up behind me and the guard pointed to the large signs on the fence "taking pictures of the facility is prohibited".

Not wanting to spend the morning in the Port Authority office explaining that I am not a terrorist, I drove away trying to take the pic but it was just a blurr...

Anyway, I saw them...I couldn't believe it. They were beautiful. What struck me most was that the BMW's were all drab grey, silver etc and the MINI's were a bright rainbow of blues, yelows, reds.

They were all very happy looking I wanted to jump the fence and find mine and convince them to let me drive it to the dealer.

SS/SS, premium, sport seats, gotham grey, MFW/bluetooth

Because they are in the market to make money and they are banking on excitement to overcome the customer's interest in getting the best deal.

When we traded in my pickup truck for my wife's new car, one dealership, that we walked from, was trying to set me up to take $2,000 for the truck. The Blue Book trade in value was listed at $6800. We went to another dealership and we ended up with a $5500 offer. They wouldn't budge and it wasn't a huge deal so we took that.

Actually I think I may have. I remember seeing a dark something(black or dark grey) convertible. Whether it was yours or not I don't know.

I swear I think I saw my car as well. SS/SS is a little unusual.

I haven't gotten to see Jude in person yet... But my MA sent me pics today while we wait on the new UJ roof graphic... I'm so excited!!! And really don't mind since he's making sure my baby's perfect for me! (Hey - maybe I can get him to throw in some floor mats for the trouble )

Check out Jude - not fully finished...

Flytime,
That is a huge bummer! That makes me cry. I could not wait for a new one, especially seeing as though the 09 clubmans are taking so long for delivery (8 months right now in Oregon). I would let them fix it for you. Best of luck,
Nancy

Thanks!

Yea, my MA has been really helpful... despite the original UJ graphic being damaged... I didn't expect him to send pics.. but he seems to get my MINI obsession (he owns a new & classic MINI himself!)

Scheduled to pickup on Tuesday.... He says news roof graphic should be there Monday and they'll get it ready by Tuesday morning!

Wow, real sorry to hear that. I saw a CR/B S in the front left corner of the lot, it must have been yours, I thought it was a regular cooper though, sorry if I misled you.

Enjoy the mellow yellow...that one has the black stripes/trim right? I considered those colors myself, but settled on CR/B.

Again sorry to hear...

Armrest might be nice addition I'd suppose

Your baby will be here soon enough...at least you know she's safe.

Sorry to hear this, OO. It is unfortunate that we can't buy direct from the factory. Best of luck selling the prius.

Is it possible that there is another ship that could be carrying some Week 29 Autos other than the Southern Highway? I was reviewing the K-Line schedule and it looks like Olympian Highway appeared to also be shipping out about 4 days after the time my vehicle was finished. (July 22 was the finish date for CamRun the Clubman.)

The schedule looked like the Olympian Highway was to leave on July 26th.

Anyone know for sure?

A couple quick snapshots of my new car. The tow hook covers didn't arrive with the car but I should have them by wednesday or so. Otherwise, everything seems fine. The odometer was reading 1 mile when I pulled off the lot!

Now says 42. The wheels are already a little dirty from brake dust.

So far, I love it! Makes lots of cool new car smells as everything heat soaks for the first time.
