Question Looking to buy thoughts and advice? MCS countryman

Hey all! unfortunate I am in the car market, which is super expensive right now. I found a 2015 MCS countryman all4 for sale near me and the price seems decent. Although I know a lot on my 07MCS n14 engine I don’t know much on the n16 (I think it’s a n16).

the car looks and runs good, sounds good too. A little louder than my mini but I believe the engine is a bit bigger so. Doesn’t have any noises that concern me.

is there any common issues with these cars/engines? Anything I should keep an eye out for? Any help would be great!

I was able to code the car and will attempt to add the scan to the post. With the add ons it was 34k new and they have the original window sticker from mini to show that. They are asking just under 14k now and it has 117k miles on it.

again I’m just looking for any help, experience, opinions, things to look out for.. thanks in advance!

I just bought (Oct 2021) a 2012 MC Countryman SAll4 with 60k miles for $15k. There are a couple of dings on the body panels but this is my daily driver so was not looking for a garage queen. Only it was a New England car so there is plenty of rust on the bottom of the car but not so on the paint… for now anyway. So far I’ve spent $$$ on winter wheels/tires, plugs, ignition coils, air filter intake, brake lines and front rotors and pads. The car seems to run like a champ and stops well though in this cold weather it seems to start a little slower. Good luck with your mini. And I did just order a pair of replacement rear tail lights with the Union Jack emblem. I’m also working on adding a fog light over the front plate.

If it’s a 2015 turbo model, the engine code is N18. Relatively reliable compared to the N14 engine. Overall, the car should be pretty reliable, and not much of a headache, as long as you can perform your own maintenance. At over 100k miles and 6 years, the first year should need a bunch done.

That price though, ouch…

Not much to add except my used mini experience recently-
So cal, so the market is always more expensive than most and I bought from a mini dealer haha....and well, the reason was, my daughter loved this car lol.
2012 countryman S, white, black top, I think wheels were upgraded to 18" black big spoke style, new Michelin tires, 49k miles and IMMACULATE inside and out, previous owner was an older guy who owns a few mini's and just ordered a 2022, traded this in, car was in physical and mechanical great shape all services done at MINI and on the carfax, sounds great, looks great (the paint on the car, wow, like new?? guy must have waxed it weekly)....seats look new, interior carpets, no smell....anyway, we paid 15k, which I think was 3 grand over bluebook, but the condition of the car and the fact when we were there had 3 people looking at it! and sales man told me "a guy is coming back at lunch to buy it".....I just got suckered and bought it haha.
But-its been a month, maybe 5 weeks, and WHAT A FUN CAR.

Oh and he added all the UK union jack stuff, mirrors, lights, etc....

They're very fun cars. Put on a NM rear sway bar and NM power module and you'll be double amazed at how fun it is!

For 14k you could buy a better car than that. For one that is a lot of codes and miles for 14k. I get the fact that the market is high right now, but I would go through our classifieds, there are a few R60’s for sale that are under that price and appear to be in better shape. I’m glad you scanned it, I check my wife’s best friend’s r60 over for about 30 minutes before we even test drove it. The iPad and bimmerlink work wonders, I forgot to check the stupid oil, it should have been changed before sale, but for 11k, out the door, for a 2014 R60s all4 with 90,000, 6 speed, and leather not a bad deal at all.

Excited your looking into a countryman!
Hopefully it's an automatic lol. I drive a manual R60 (countryman's code) S, fwd, manual, 90k miles. My clutch just went out, lasted shockingly long compared to most but i would check if the clutch has been replaced recently if it's a manual.

Clutch repairs are near impossible on your own, (i did it myself, would never do it again) and they cost anywhere from 1500-3k to get done.

If it's an automatic then discard everything i just said haha. Good luck, hopefully it works out.
