jcw countryman reliability?

hey guys. I had owned 2 minis in the past, a 02 cooper s and a 07 justa.

I am looking into a 2013 countryman jcw manual. I was wondering if these ones are reliable. I did some research and it seems like the all4 doesn't do so well for the transmission? I've also seen some complaints on the HPFP but those are usually on pre 13 cars.

Any insight would be helpful. My last mini was reliable but it does burn oil and leak a bit of coolant at the heat exchanger.

Compared to the majority of cars out there...no. Its a Mini. Everyones opinion on reliability will differ. Mine is as a 'car guy' who does all my own work when able.

I thought our R60 would be a little better. Im about to dig into the thermostat because its a chunk of plastic and its leaking heavily. Ive already put more money into it for other little things a sub 75K mile car should not need.

Mine, for example, still has crappy CV axles, has gone though wheel bearings, expensive battery, ect. You maintain them well and still crazy BMW parts are going to fail, and you just hope that a big ticket one isnt next like a transfer case or turbo. If you finance one you are probably racing paying it off with the tanking value. Like with the R56's...you are not getting a dime back in the end.

Not to be a downer, but anymore minis are for leasing...then you hand it back in the end and walk away....or if your wife just HAS to have one, just always be ready to do some work.

While i like my 2011 justa, MINI and reliability are just two words that should never be used in the same sentence....

We like our 2015 Countryman S All4 just fine.....it only has 15,000 miles on it but it's a great little car! I had heard that certain Countryman manual trans cars had an issue with the clutch, so you might want to research that. But, honestly, I'd look at a later year used Countryman...the prices are not "high" at all compared to the cost new. These cars were all in the mid to upper $30's when new for the most part, so finding one sub-20k is not at all hard.

The jcw CM i looked at has around 77k kms (about 48k miles). I drove it and was sadly disappointed. It was a really slow car considered to be a jcw. This is coming from a guy who owned a 07 justa. While the justa is still slower, i'm not sure why i'm paying so much more for a slow jcw.

Case closed, going to keep searching for a clubman instead :(

If it was an ALL4, the AWD system really seems to suck power. They are just much heavier cars than the smaller R56's....same sort of power.

I bet a GTI or the like is quicker. Back when, it was a toss up between a GTI and a R56....now the Mini is way more expensive, and slower.
