R60 Carly for a '17 or '18?

It's garbage, fails to include half the things you code for, is needlessly restrictive in options, and needlessly charges outrageous prices for it's proprietary OBD2 unit.
Bimmercode appears to be the way to go, not Carly (But I have not personally tried Bimmercode yet!).
Of course, E-sys is the only way to be sure. Bimmercode appears to cover the same functions that can be coded with E-sys, but we'll see.
Thanks for the warning. That's a bummer that it doesn't work that well. I mainly want to use it to activate convenient closing (windows, sunroof, mirrors). Anything else was going to be a bonus.
I'll have to look into Bimmercode or E-sys.

I'm no expert with Esys but if you are in the least bit computer savvy then coding will be pretty simple and $20 or less for the cable. One of the top Ebay sellers has a nice online guide, look it over and see if it works for you.
I did not want to drop the money for the Carly system and was concerned about the reviews - forced in app purchases.
I downloaded/installed NCS Expert and ISTA to take care of interfacing with the car. A W10 laptop and a $30 cable and I have a complete solution.

Minnie.the.Moocher and Jwanck11 -- Super interested in what you guys are talking about. I'll take a look. I am decent with computers so maybe Esys is the way to go. I will look into NCS Expert and ISTA as well.
