Can't figure this one out 🤔😩😧
 

Okay so I recently joined the MINI community and financed a used 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman S with 73k on the dash. It's a manual transmission and when I bought it I had no clue how to drive it. After a friend brought it home from me from the dealership I figured out how to drive it in a matter of an hour. All is well until I see the brake sensor and tire pressure sensors don't work. But I see my e brake is disengage so no worries, tires are good to go so no problems there. Engine seems to be running fine so I'm not too concerned. Until I put my foot down and realized this thing is not accelerating properly. Talked to the salesman and he said just give it a tune up and you'll be fine.

So let's get started;
4 spark plugs @ $15 a piece labor done by me
What do ya know? Car comes alive and she's blazing passed traffic. For 30 miles then back to limp mode I go.

Checked the codes, p0087 along with misfires on cylinders 1 & 3
Awesome... Two coil packs for cylinders 1 & 3 @ $48 a piece. This is starting to hurt my tiny wallet.

Now from what I understand there is something wrong with the fuel pump. Maybe the filter needs to be changed, maybe the whole pump. I haven't had it diagnosed yet, I have an appointment to diagnose the issue so I don't start throwing money at this issue for no reason.
I'd like to know from the mini community if any of you have had this issue, what did it boil down to and what solved your problem? Thanks in advance for your input.

A little research before you bought would likely have saved you some headaches. I hope you bought a warranty on this one.

High Pressure Fuel Pump may be causing your misfires as well, these are issues you can search on the forums here. good luck, wish I could be more help.

HPFP p0087 code should get you a free installed new pump at the MINI dealer. It has become a covered expense in many cases. Check with the dealer and your vin # to make sure its covered. Otherwise the cost will knock you back a lot.

Buying a used MINI without a proper pre-inspection on a tiny wallet has me worried...

Get thee to a MINI dealer and talk to a service advisor over whether that repair may be covered or not.
