Most of them won't fit that gap, the SR is one of the thinnest bars out there. Not to mention they're pieces of crap, take it from someone who has played with/tested/abused multiple types on multiple vehicles.

 

how did you wire it?

 

Thinking of doing the something like this with my Countryman but am debating on the same set up you went with or a larger light bar mounted above the windshield. Just out of curiosity how well does it light up being mounted there? Do you have any pictures from the inside of your car at night to share?
