Difference between factory S and factory JCW exhausts?

Some local person is selling his factory JCW exhaust (midpipe and muffler) because he put on an aftermarket one. I have a CMS and want a throatier exhaust sound. What's the difference between both factory midpipes/mufflers? Would installing the factory JCW exhaust on my CMS actually make any difference in sound?

I have a countryman JCW and the exhaust is real quiet. I would like it a little louder. I would suggest saving your money for aftermarket exhaust of some kind.

i installed the jcw midpipe and exhaust on my s shortly after i got it and was very happy with the tone change. the only small drawback is a minor drone from it at highway speed. other than that it's a big improvement from what i can recall my original exhaust sounding like. search the forum i think mrs pro did a comparison video a few years back so you can hear the difference.

I think you and MRS PRO installed the version with cat-less straight midpipe, correct? That's the two-piece bolt-on version (midpipe + muffler).

I'm actually referring to the factory JCW exhaust, the midpipe for which has a cat and resonator. This midpipe is actually welded to the muffler. This version comes on all factory JCW R60s.

that is correct. the resonator gets cut out with the mid pipe install. depending on the price have a muffler shop cut the mid pipe from the jcw factory and add a straight pipe from the muffler to the cat.

The sound will change a bit when you put it in sport mode also.

I went from factory S exhaust to factory JCW exhaust and it definitely made a difference. The pops are like whip cracks now and it does it every time you downshift or let off the gas. It has a nice low burble sound to it at idle also. A little extra noise in the cabin but I like it. I pretty much always drive in sport mode .

The sounds and the looks ( i like the larger solid tips ) are the biggest changes.

I installed the Megan Racing exhaust. $299 shipped on Ebay. Has the larger tips like the JCW, a nice but not droning sound and much less expensive than others. 20 minutes from jackstands to done.
