Self-leveling Xenons Don't Seem to be Leveling

Hi All,

I have a 2012 R60 with Xenons and since new, every time I turn the headlamps on the lights would go trough the leveling process (or "initiation") as it should. Yesterday, I turned them on, the lamps didn't briefly point downward and come back up to their driving position as was the norm. Tried it several times again with the same result - no leveling initiation. Now, while driving, the beams seem to be a bit high on the road.

Anyone experience the same? Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient to get to the dealer so I thought I check here first. Thanks!

has your ecu been updated? my 2012 all4 acted same as yours until ecu update

now it does the test as soon as key is inserted whether the headlights are on or off

to test ... turn headlights on before inserting the key

Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner! Yes, my ECU was updated in September and yes, you're right. I did what you suggested last night they leveled at start-up. Thanks!

I'm having this same issue after installing a new battery in my 2012 R56. I took it in for an oil change this weekend and asked them to check the headlights because they weren't adjusting and were too high. They manually adjusted them down and they seemed fine when I picked it up (but were still not auto leveling) but by the time I got home they had adjusted themselves back up to the level they were at before. Any suggestions? Is there something that needs to be updated after the new battery install?
