Air filters and CAI orders through Amazon

Just a heads up to other Countryman owners, Amazon's parts specs for the Countryman are wrong. I live in Hawaii, where shipping costs can kill, so I try as much as possible to order simple parts through Amazon Prime(filters, floor mats, etc) to save $$. I'm sending back the second filter I've ordered through them that they claimed fit my 06/2012. The first was a K&N Typhoon CAI that was so tall, it would've shredded the paneling covering the upper firewall when the engine torqued. The second was an aFe Pro Dry S drop in that was ~2" too long. After this, I went back and looked at both K&N and aFe's websites and, sure enough, Amazon is listing the wrong part numbers as fitting the Countryman. I also had to send back a pair of floor mats that didn't fit the front passenger. After a quick look, comparing aFe and K&N's parts on their own websites, it looks like Amazon has the wrong part number for every year model. I've alerted Amazon, but you might want to avoid them altogether for now. I'll post whatever their reply is later. Has anyone else had these kind of problems ordering through Amazon?

No issues at all. I always double check part numbers before making an order.

A lesson I just learned the hard way :/ Just thought I'd share, in case anyone else was about to order parts for their CM based on Amazon's fit guide.

+1 the fits guide is not correct on those sites. They don't know MINIs.

If you need anything , we are here to help.

This very common with walmart style websites, it's what keeps me in business.

If you still need one we have cheap shipping to HI. But we also don't recommend the K&N as the oil gets in the sensors. Check out the Dry panel filter as it works the same as a K&N with no oil in it.

While I've ordered from both vendors above, sometimes the big A is too compelling in price and ship time, plus the pure joy of having your account immediately credited if you drop off a return at ups or fedex.

I'm an advocate of small biz and go out of my way to order from those guys first!

Thanks for the help ECSTuning, and WayMotorWorks. I had also heard that the oiled filters cause trouble over time with the turbo, and is why I was trying to order the aFe Pro Dry S drop in filter.
Minnie.the.Moocher shares my sentiment about shipping ease through the big A, but since most Mini parts aren't eligible for Prime (free shipping and returns) anyway, the costs of shipping can really pile up if the first order doesn't fit. Think I'll stick with the small business Mini specialists from now on. Just ordered the dry filter from WMW.
Thanks for supporting us ECS and WMW!
