My mother always wanted a mini and we all got her one. She is disabled but can still drive.
Well, on to my story. She got a Mini Countryman base with cold weather and premium. The dealer failed to tell her there were no fogs OR NO DRL'S.
Being in law enforcement myself, I really feel DRL's are a great safety feature. The dealer now says no way to get DRL's and it does not show up in the BC settings as well. Mini's website says there standard now, but she got a build before some changes. My dad called Mini, and got the "what can we do about it, see the dealer". and the dealer plays dumb...
Anyway to get this to work, coding...anything please, my mom really wants them, heck, you know older people are. Thanks all
Believe the MINI LED daytime running lights should work for the R60 Countryman. Part # 63122338554. According to RealOEM this kit should fit your Countryman.

We were told you need the factory fogs for this kit. Which it does not have. There is no switch in the center console for fogs too. hey thanks!

ah I see. Maybe find a local audio or fabrication shop that may be able to hook these lights up for you. My non-MINI car had fogs, but I went with a different set up and had them wired directly to the battery so I could use them while the car is off, which I had to re-wire a bunch of stuff. I'm sure this is something that can be easily done by a shop like that or a MINI indy shop. May be worth asking around. Good luck.
They stay on when you click them up one notch on the stock. Which you can do when you enter the MINI each time. Unless you code them through a secondary NCS expert like software program like a drl. Which some people do.

You can also code DRLs from your high beams at half power without installing the driving light kit. You'll need to find somebody who is advanced at coding. Ohio is a bit far from Philly, but if you want an epic road trip for some lights, come to Helix.

Hey, your the man...this is exactly what we need!!!!!! I would pay you to help me with buying the rights stuff and software to do it
There are regulations governing installation and use of accessory driving lights like rally lights. Being in law enforcement you probably already know having them always on when the car is on will get your mom pulled over and a ticket.

Bulbs cost nearly nothing compared to all the retrofitting
Whammy! Do you know how many bulbs you can buy for the price of one retrofit kit? And how many more bulbs can you buy for the price of installation? Then what if it isn't installed correctly and either fries a module or drains the battery, leaving your mom stranded? Having tail lamps on can also make the vehicle more visible from the rear, and less prone to being rear ended. (okay, that's a little far fetched)
But.......sounds like using the headlights is quite reasonable

agree that is what we are doing... thanks for your reply
Do an search on NAN for the thread BMWhat app. This is a cell phone app that works with a wi-fi OBDII port reader to change a lot of the settings that dealers can set. If it is available to be "set" in a MINI this should do it for you. It works much like the NCS expert only easier.
