"Chain Tensioner" problem that plagued the R56, is our R60 tensioners new or old?
Hello everybody,
I was browsing the website and found out that some of the 2011-2012 Countryman S "may" still carry the problematic chain tensioners from the 2007-2010 R56.
Does anybody know if our R60 chain tensioners have been upgraded to the stronger ones? If not, I wouldn't mind buying the parts from BMW (around $50) and have it upgraded instead of paying $1000+ down the road when the a chain of events follow after the tensioner fails...
Can anybody share some light on this issue please? Thanks.
Kevin

I dont think so, the chain tensioner problem was with n14 motors. we have n18s. I think one of the main things they addressed on the n18 was the timing chain tensioners.
My good buddy is a mini technician and he has yet to do repair related to the timing chain tensioners on the n18 motors
