Question Checkered sunroof question

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has installed the checkered pattern on their sunroof on their mini and are you happy with? If you have pictures to share, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thinking about plasti-dipping my roof and mirrors in a checkered pattern, with the plasti-dip treatment that makes it look glossy... Any experiences with that? I'll post pics when I can get around to doing the actual painting.

You will need to use the glossifier over the PD of your choice color. Remember to pull the tape up on the edges while the dip is wet, to not peel up the dip with the tape once dry.

Put it on my first CM - I really liked it, although one friend said it looked like a Purina Dog Chow bag, while another wanted to play checkers on it! Not sure about the last picture - reflection of the roof in the picture taken from inside. An unusual view.

I have it on my Clubman... With a black roof it's fun to have.

People comment on it in a positive way, it's not something you see often. I enjoy it, it's held up fine so far. It's just a decal graphic ( cut vinyl).. So worst case I can peel it off down the road if I get tired of it.. Or if it gets ruined.

thanks

Really like the checked on the red mini. I thought it would only look good on a black car, but I was wrong. Was this installed at a Mini Dealer? Appreciate the pictures.

Did not have any good pictures of the roof on my Mini, it is Mellow Yellow with a white roof and the dark tinted glass roof looks great with white checkers.

I think it helps shade the car from the hot sun as well, about 50% less UV rays.

The Checkerboard vinyl was purchased at the dealer I bought the car from. I was going to pay to have it put on, but my salesman offered to do it if I could come in during a slower afternoon. I lived nearby, so that was easy enough.

He had done a few of them before, so he knew what he was getting into. And he knew how to do it.

Getting started seem to be the worst part of it. If it didn't start lined up, you'd be in trouble, as you proceeded.

If memory serves, it took about 90 minutes. He did the placing, and I followed behind him pressing it down with a small, hard plastic squeegee, of sorts, that they had in the MINI area just for things like this, I guess! It's key to get out any air bubbles!

Yellow

You had me at Yellow! Wish I could find a CM in yellow, because I would have given it the taxi roof. Probably looks great too. Jealous!

Funny you mention a yellow CM - in the last few days I came across what I think is only the second yellow CM I've ever seen. Reminded me as to how unusual a shade it is.

I didn't realize this pattern is just white checks. For some reason I thought the black areas would be some kind of darker tint.

Checker top

See my gallery, It is a Clubman vs Countryman . The car has a sunroof and I had the sunroof and painted part checkered. Like one of the post , you can see the checks in the sunroof from the inside. But you can get a wrap option that you cannot see the checks. I personally like them because the checks help cut out the sun.

Mini is a 3M roof wrap in graphite that was placed on the shinney black roof. I ordered mine on line through a site that is authorized by MIni and they came to my house and installed the roof wrap. I can send you the site if interested.

we actually had this on the order sheet for our CMJCW. While waiting for our car to be built, we stopped by the dealer and they had a MCS with the checkered sunroof.

We sit in the car, and while the checkerboard makes an interesting light show inside the car, we just didn't like looking up and seeing the sky obstructed by the checkerboards, so we deleted it from the car.

I still think it looks good on the car though from a curb appeal perspective.
